"Here's a place that's trying, and almost getting to excellent. Our four-top visited Hook Vine on a recent Thursday night when in the resort area. It started out well with quickly being seated and ordering a round of drinks. The place was pretty busy, and though friendly, our server seemed to have her hands full. Drinks were fine, but we soon found ourselves in some gaps between visits from our server. We ordered, got a few apps, and then a long wait, while we watched later tables receive food, and finally asked our server if we'd have our entrees soon. The food is always delicious!! I love how the restaurant feels family oriented. Ian, Donovan and Alex are awesome! I recently sat outside with our dog and Donovan brought our pup a bowl of ice cold water! Ian and Alex are always making us laugh. Food is always delicious, especially the shrimp app. One of my favs!

Owners response is correct. She did ask what she could do to fix it. We simply saw no fix that would make this an enjoyable lunch for us. We paid our bill and left. Others may enjoy her food and long waits when other tables were served ahead of us. It was just not for us and we could not recommend it. Do not recommend. Food was served COLD and took inordinately long with partially empty restaurant. Heavy salt use on fish tacos and cream of crab soup. French fries served stone cold We left our fish tacos and cream of crab soup uneaten which we have never done before. A $60 lunch failure. Now on to Hersheys ice cream essentially for a lunch we can eat.

We've dined there a few times and this place does not disappoint. We sat at the bar, both times and the bartender, Ethan was great. Had a few local brews to start. The fried green tomatoes were crispy and tart and fried to perfection. Loved the cauliflower bites. Their version of bang bang shrimp is amazing. The broth that the mussels are cooked in, is beyond good. I was not a fan of the shrimp and grits (lacked flavor), but they were quick to bring me another dish of my choosing. The fish and chips, hands down was the best. Crispy and flavorful batter. Didn't need the malt vinegar, but added a few squirts anyway. My parents went and agreed, this place is a gem. We all will be going again!

"petty business owners guidelines. I called to drag the men's vehicles at the end of business hours. the parking space was empty. Why tow people, what they don't have to do? I mean safe, busy times or midday safe. I understand. but at 8-9 o'clock or later? when they close at 9 o'clock. Come on. I never give leathero's pizza again. what a buzzing unpleasant guy. Update:Towed at about 8-8:30.Parked at 19:30 clock $250 to get her car from all american towing impound."

"It was our first time to the location itself...we just went for brunch to get out of the house for the day — it just wasn’t at all what we were expecting, I guess?? We thought it was a stand alone restaurant, but it’s just a small section that’s actually attached to the Casino...Like the machines are a few feet away from the tables. It’s deff More like a holiday type breakfast situation, than a legit restaurant. It’s there for the hotel and Casino, but nothing I would recommend going to like we did on a whim just to eat. The food was nothing special...Kinda bland. The decor and restaurant area are very dated. Also not deep cleanedmaintained overall, for example: the ceiling tiles are longggg overdue for replacement. They are literally greyblack in all areas by the ceiling vents. Dust? Mold? The large windows and view of the water were nice...and our waitress was greatfriendly!Again just not at all what we had envisioned"

"Mediocre food. I gave this restaurant a don't like it vote, but I had to think hard before making that decision. While it wasn't terrible, it certainly was not great. I must say, I was disappointed by Rod N Reel. The view is nice, but the food was lacking. I had grilled Rockfish which was good, but the rice and veggies on the side were flavorless. Another person at our table had the mariner's platter (assortment of fried seafood) and it was very good, but the shrimp was pretty tough and dry. The crab soup was terrible. "The wait staff and floor management are consistently wonderful, and we’ve yet to have a bad meal here. We frequent Plaza almost every time we have guests in town. The only glaring blemish on their track record happened when we sat at the bar and were very rudely interacted with by the senior bottle-blonde behind the bar. At almost 30 years old with 7 of industry experience managing a bar venue, you’d think I’d be flattered by the assumption that I’m underage- however we were very loudly accused of having “fraudulent identification” (her exact words) after she made it a point to take our ID’s across the restaurant to three different managers for “verification purposes”. This was all before we could even place a food order, much less before there was even a mention of alcohol.We travel for a living and are both transplants to the MD area so we both have out of state ID’s that she clearly doesn’t know how to read. This is also a prominent military town, so one would guess they’d have ample knowledge with the variety of IDs they encounter.I’ve had my own experiences of protecting myself from the liability of serving minors, but her dramatic outburst and loud accusations in front the entire bar were in extremely poor taste and horribly embarrassing as regulars of the establishment.She is an incredibly lacking representative of the rest of our experience with the staff. I’m surprised she’s employed there in the first place."
