"Let me start by the first time we ate here it was actually really good. The last 3 times I have been there it was a different story. Today was the day that made me write this review. I ran in to grab lunch today to go… Brisket with a side of Mac n cheese. The brisket was SO TOUGH I couldn’t even chew it. It was old and reheated. And the Mac n cheese was mush and no flavor. Kwik star has better food than that! I’m really disappointed!! The lady at that took my order was super nice and sweet that’s the reason for the 2 stars. I will not be giving this place another try."

I had smoked Korean bbq wings. The party I was with said they had the best ribs in Des Moines. They had a side of parm fries which were great. Another party said his burnt ends sandwich was more like steak tips. The meats were tender, ginormous portions, reasonably priced, great quick service reviews said better than jethros (I agree)

Excellent burnt ends, beans, slaw, and lots of sauce options. The waitress was amazing. We went there for our daughters 9th birthday because she wanted bbq beans. The beans were awesome for me but a little spicy for my daughter. The waitress noticed she wasn’t eating them and brought another option without us even mentioning anything. Happy 9 year old and happy family!

Generally we have always loved the food. Most of the staff are friendly but there is one that is not at all. Tonight we ordered 3 meals to go that totaled over $50. When we got home there were errors in our order. I called several times and the phone just rang and rang. No one answered. So basically 2 meals were incorrect and there was no one available to help correct it. Extremely frustrating and out money and no food to eat. Don't think I'll be back.
