"I went to Troutbeck tonight for dinner with my wife and parents. The grounds and ambience are absolutely beautiful, but the food fell well short of what it should be, especially at these prices. My wife 's pork was bland, dry and overcooked. The mushrooms they were served with seemed to be sautéed without any seasonings. Some of the nectarines in her salad seemed to be rotten. I stayed here for a one night girls getaway. Troutbeck is truly a beautiful retreat! The grounds and buildings are beautiful. We had delicious room service and s’mores at the fire pit by the river. Troutbeck is absolutely exquisite a friend and I treated ourselves to a weekday stay and had the best time. The grounds are gorgeous and expansive, and the design of the property thoughtfully blends the classic country house feel with bright and modern elements, and incorporates so many interesting historical elements. We ate at the main restaurant and pool bar and thought both were excellent. What impressed us most was the service the staff went above and beyond, and you feel that they are proud of the hotel and genuinely care that you have a good experience.
