In the summer a large terrace in the front yard is crowded with locals discussing culture and current events. Quality is good but this is not a place for fine dining, but instead a great pick for a group wishing to have a long chat, to enjoy beers or Apfelwein and schnitzel or sausages, as well as for friends to play a game of chess. Pricing is very reasonable."

A basic but very authentic and welcoming Apfelwein place. They have a lovely garden and it is not overrun by tourist. The charming and chilled alternative to Sachsenhausen.

The Stalburg is located next door to the Stalburg Theater and a great spot to have dinner before a show. It is one a the few remaining very typical German Restaurants, serving Schnitzel, Grüne Sosse and Bratkartoffeln (breaded pork cutlet, a sauce made from yoghurt,mayo and seven different herbs and home fries), which is what I always have, and many other local foods. I also like the German Apfelwein (kind of a hard cider, but sour) which is made locally. Yum!
