"Lovely, quaint little Inn. Stayed here for two nights. Requested and early check in, and were texted around 12:30 pm to let us know our room was ready. When we arrived we were greeted by Annie, who was so sweet and kind. She showed us to our room, as well as the menu for the evening and gave us all the ins and out of the property. The room was quaint, with just about everything you'd need. The view was 10 out of 10. We stayed upstairs in a room that came with a mini fridge (stocked with a few items) , fireplace, king bed, balcony and TV. Each day we went to the check in and filled out ice bucket so we could make cocktails or have fresh ice in our water. The Inn itself was very quiet. The ground were beautiful and well cared for. We thoroughly enjoyed taking our wine down to sit on the ground overlooking the water. Check out was also super simple. We found our stay here to be absolutely perfect. If we were to change anything, perhaps maybe some slight larger bath towels and a microwave in the room. But even without those things, we would definitely here again."

"Wow! What an incredible bar. It is so cozy and comfortable. We had the charcuterie and i can hardly recall tasting so many new flavors at once. The owner Mike made me the best Old Fashioned I've ever had. I will come back every time i come to Orcas."

"Hands down the best waffle cone I 've had anywhere. It was light, thin and crispy. Not too sweet, perfectly cooked and delicious. The ice cream here is beyond creamy. It 's complex and delicious with a chew to it that i just can 't explain. On my visit I had pistachio and ginger and the flavor profiles of both were simple, humble and yet very flavorful. The nuance of getting that perfect combination of creamy and flavor can 't be easy but here they make it seem like child 's play. The staff is very friendly. Signs up to let you know a double scoop is actually four scoops (nice for tourists to know ahead of time). And they will let you get all different flavors for each scoop too. And for a double scoop (4 scoops) it 's less than $10 if I recall correctly. I couldn 't believe it. The small ice cream shop is cute and inviting with great people. Don 't miss out when you 're in the area!"

"If i could give ZERO stars i would. I was in contact with the White horse pub about hosting my after wedding nightcap. Two months out I called and talked with someone about putting down a credit card and they assured me I did not have to do that two weeks I called just to confirm that they had me down on the books and they said yes absolutely we have you down. THE DAY BEFORE after my rehearsal dinner we all went in and had a few drinks and they told us they would see us the next day. THE DAY OF MY WEDDING! My husband went in to have a drink pre-ceremony they told him he had the nicest bartender it was going be a great night. After the wedding a group of us went over and the bartender told us that we had to leave because she was closing for the night when I tried to talk to her she basically shut me out and said there was no reservation or card put down and that we had to go. All in all i will never go back there or suggest it anyone. they aren’t an event space i know this but when you’re reassured multiple time you’re welcome with your large group it’s extremely disappointing) we had guests arrive promptly at 10pm to tell them we were on the way and they we’re denied. I was informed multiple times they stayed open until 12am so you’d think getting there at 10pm would be enough time."

"This is a nice bistro/grill restaurant serving a combo of northwest-style burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Many of the dishes are based on seafood (not really that surprising with the ocean view), and a lot of the ingredients are local. Despite being what amounts to Northwest comfort food, the food was pleasantly well prepared. Sockeye is notoriously easy to overcook, but my sockeye sandwich was nicely cooked with some crispy edges and just barely cooked center. The onion rings were crispy but not burnt out mushy."

"The restaurant offers a beautiful, spacious indoor and outdoor setting with stunning views on clear days. The space is spotlessly clean. The food is well-presented and portions are generous. We tried something different from our usual choices: duck waffles and kale mushroom benedict. Both dishes have bold flavors, with the option of adding chili maple syrup on the side. Despite not being a fan of spicy food, we found it to be a pleasant addition in small quantities. The kale and tarragon hollandaise are flavorful and perfect for vegetarians. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience."

"Food is remarkable, chef Jay is excellent. Service is island style, but very friendly. Wine list is a work in progress as of this review, but the selection I had was sublime. In general, expect the unexpected. Ambiance is chill, neighborhood place, but the food is next level good. Wear your hat and shorts, but expect 4/5 star culinary execution. Reservations recommended. Small five seat bar for walk ups. Lots of outside seating. Pizza takeaway also an option."

"We ordered a large pizza and told it was 14 and the medium 12 , It measured about 12.5 , I pointed this out to the front desk questioning that it was a medium instead of a large. He adamantly said it was a large. Shaving an 1 to 1.5 off the outside diameter is significant. My wife, son and I are not heavy eaters, this pizza verily sufficed. Also, I left a very generous upfront tip and he knew we were seated outside, he didn 't bother to yell our names out or take the extra 30 seconds to bring it to us when it was ready. It wasn 't until our son went in to check on it that we became aware it had been sitting on the take out shelf for awhile. Don 't pre-tip this place until you 've had your product! As for flavor and quality, I 'd give it a B-, if the crust was better a B+. As for leaving a tip, it would have been $0."

"Great service wonderful staff an a nice place to bring the family. They have grab an goes burritos sausage and bacon a very fair price. Remind me of the burritos my grandma used to make when I was a youngster have half of it breakfast the over half for lunch. Burritos are very well made with some weight to them . Compared to other places like country corner hands down go to ISLAND SKILLET you will be very happy !!!"

"Great food! We stopped here while we were visiting Eastsound lately and eating something... We had a sequence of fish tacos and an order of the Carne Asada... The portions were very generous and very delicious! We ordered online and it said 45 minutes. I arrived 45 minutes later and our food was hot and ready to go. I saw someone checking a star because they were supposed to have a three-hour waiting period? This is a pretty stupid reason to leave a low rating as if the restaurant can control the crowds of people who come to buy food If at all, it simply shows how good it is! Although we wanted to try a margarita, we had other commitments, so time did not allow it. Something that looks forward to our next visit!"

"Roses is my favorite place on Orcas Island, among very good company of other beautiful restaurants. I rue the days they are closed (Sonnays and Mondays) and was known to plan a trip around their hours. Fresh pastas are often specialties on the lunch menu, with homemade, perfectly cooked noodles in plenty of portions. I always get the pasta, in addition to everything my friends and I share. Their thin crust pizzas are tasteful, but never hard, with interesting taste combos with seasonal ingredients. Always, there is at least one vegetarian option if you are in this type of thing. During breakfast, the potato nest is a must: a huge hashbrown with crispy edges and a creamy center of soft potatoes. It is served with chopped eggs and Serrano ham. Your cakes and other sweets are also worth making room or taking with you when you go. If you have a Sunday ferry, I recommend you to grab sandwiches to go from the gourmet shop when you are there on Saturday. Enjoy!"

"Orcas Island is a favorite of ours. We visit at least once a year in February as a break from the winter weather at home. Most trips, we visit Rosario and the Mansion, because it is such a beautifuland historic spot.The Mansion changed hands a few years ago and another sale has just been completed. We are hopeful that will bring it back to the 5 star restaurant it should be. The main dining room has been closed for years, but is more impressive than the hallway where the restaurant serves these days. The food is still delicious, but the atmosphere and service have declined. Let's hope our next visit takes it back to the stellar level it should be."

"The restaurant itself is very wooded with beautiful views. A mixed crowd of people sitting alone at a four top table with just their computer and young couples out on their first expensive date. We started with the seared tuna. Not a good start. The tuna was over crusted with sesame seeds not necessary, as you can let the fish speak for itself. The slaw under it was inedible due to salt. I love salty food but this was drenched and soaked in soy sauce. The mango, radishes and cucumber seemed to be an afterthought, added to the edges of the plate. Moving on, we had the rib eye and the scallops. Rib eye was seared nicely but more rare than medium rare for my liking. The potatoes and broccoli proved to be a bit raw. The horseradish sauce served with the dish was nice. Not worth $40, flame up your own steak for $12, it will taste about the same. Scallops beautiful sear! Really lovely scallops. Unfortunately, they were atop a bed of raw (why???! spinach and very salty risotto. The tomato sauce around the dish was too sweet and over powered the beautiful, delicate scallops. All in all, this restaurant needs to allow the seafood they have speak for itself. Stop drowning it in sauce and salt! Come here for the view and drinks."

"Wow I usually look up reviews before trying anything nearby if there are options. This restaurant came up as 4.9 reviews and my impression that it got to be really really good. Counter service was attentive. I ordered “Bun Cha” a Vietnamese style Vermicelli salad noodle. It was sooo good. The meat is a little dry, but the fish sauce was amazing so tasty that I didn’t even care about the meat. Would highly recommended, when I’m back in the area, definitely will try more dishes here."

"Delicious food and great service. Espresso drinks made with Counter Culture coffee were fantastic. The potatoes and veggies in the hash were well seasoned and the breakfast sandwich was large, hearty and delicious. The sourdough bread from the Lopez Island bakery makes me want to go check out Lopez. They also have lots of gluten-free options, and spacious outdoor seating. No heaters but it's shielded from the wind so we were fine in our coats in early November. Will certainly be back next time we're on the island."

"We were here for dinner. It was great, with small plates being the main part of the meal, we ordered most of the menu. The food was outstanding, the service was great, and the view was perfect. The dessert was a little disappointing and unsatisfying though. However, the rest of the meal was outstanding and noteworthy. We will come back here."

"The owner brings his love to food: organic, locally grown, freshly made. He has a whole vegan lunch party with great options like plum sushi, sesame rice, vegan cookies. However, some of his best vegan creations are not on the restaurant menu. Even its staff aren't wary about cross-contamination, using the same cooking surface, so the vegan dishes often come with flavors or the occasional piece of meat or egg. Wanting a vegan friend seems to tempt the staff to be more understanding, but it's a small place so think it's too much to expect. Update Apr 2021: If vegan, make sure NO EGG or say EGG ALLERGY so they keep the tofu separate from eggs on the cooking surface, or just skip the tofu. See the photo gallery for Egg Stuck on Tofu! "good service, views, and food. The service was amazing, everyone made sure we were comfortable and had enough water and our server (Bri) was very nice and helpful. The restaurant is right on the water so you have a beautiful view plus theres outside seating. And the food was just delicious! We had coconut shrimp to start off then my dad had the fish and chips (which he really liked), me and my mom had the grilled salmon which was great but the mashed potatoes it came with were AMAZING!"
