"Stopped by to pick up a late lunch/early dinner of Lechon. Succulent, tender pork pieces, black beans and rice, plantain, pickled red onion and sauces. I will be back. The owner isn't open for dinner right at the moment, but I am hoping she will be soon. There used to be a Cuban/Caribbean restaurant on San Carlos Ave in San Carlos, but it closed, sadly. I am hoping she can extend her hours and stay for a long while in San Mateo. The food was very tasty. Of course, I also loved the music playing in the background. Definitely going back for the Cubano!"

"Have heard great things about Kokko. Made a reservation on the day of and got a less than ideal table (would highly recommend the outdoor seats over the others). Nonetheless, managed to try the food which was moderate to highly priced depending on what you ordered. The skewers like the tsukune and momo was good with a good marinate. The calamari had a light batter and was tender. Wish the menu was more extensive and would include more items."

"Such a wonderful experience in a beautifully designed space. Staff was extremely helpful. The scenery of the golf course is extremely nice. Feels like you're in Hawaii almost. They also have live music and shows. Definitely want to check out the website and plan ahead. They take reservations. Outdoor seating on a sunny day with a mimosa is about as close to perfect as you can get"

"We were extremely hungry and didn't have anything to cook, so we decided to order pizza instead of going to the store. We got two large pizzas - one with ham and pineapple, and the other with half pepperoni and half pepperoni, sausage, olives, and mushrooms. The pizzas arrived earlier than expected, which was a relief. We devoured them so quickly that I didn't even have time to take a picture. We only have a few pieces left, and I just had one for breakfast, cold but still delicious. I was pleased with the flavor, the medium thickness of the crust, and the generous amount of pineapple on the ham pizza. I enjoyed not having to cook and having a tasty dinner without making a mess in my kitchen. The photo attached is of the cold pizza I had for breakfast - look at all that pineapple!"

"Sushi Maruyama is an authentic Japanese sushi joint and not the funky American style where they stuff it with cream cheese or put it in sauces. This place offers the traditional roles, sashimi and more. The seafood is high quality, with great love pairing. You have a large menu with daily specialties such as Omakase; Here the cook offers a tailored nigiri meal based on seasonality and availability. It was $49 for 8 pieces, not bad! I thought the overall taste was good, but some areas can be improved like their grilled items. The gastronomic atmosphere is very peaceful and is ideal for a date night. Good customer service, though busy. They even gave us a free homemade cheesecake because we celebrated a birthday. Parking is available on the street. Expect to pay $100-$150 per person. I would recommend it!"

"Came here on a Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. and saw that there was a good amount of people in the line, but most of them were out, so we have plenty of seating in the interior. Well, I liked the donuts here and the Blueberry frit were great, though a bit too sweet. I also liked the instagrammablewich, although it wasn't the most amazing burger I ever had, although the fungal and spinach option felt quite healthy. I also liked the active dead that could be tasted in super crispy and fresh. Bad: I thought the waiting times were abnormally long here we waited approx. 20 30 min to get our food, what a while was the inside of the place is not incredibly clean and it is more casual, but it was still a good experience. Overall, some of the other donut options would try next time."

"I haven't gone to Icicles for years now. I remember everyone loved going to rolled ice cream places when it was trendy, but I still appreciate a good rolled ice cream place when I come across one.I came here after eating dinner because I wanted something sweet. It was either boba or this, and I chose this. I wanted something cold yet not too sweet. Upon looking at the menu, there are a few things you should know. There are regular cream flavors and non-dairy options. There's also separate stands/kiosks for if you want to pay with cash or pay with card. I ended up paying with card that night.With the iPad kiosk, it allows you to choose a base first, and then add up to 5 toppings for free. You can add mix-in's in your ice cream, but it's $0.50 more.I ended up getting strawberry fantasy with whipped cream, toasted marshmallows, Graham crackers, condensed milk, strawberries, and cheesecake pieces. My total came out to be around $13.I almost forgot how creamy this was and how slow it melts. I loved all the toppings I got with my strawberry fantasy base (honestly most of the toppings I got are in the base itself). It wasn't super sweet and it hit the spot. I also loved the presentation and the staff that made this for me.Thank you again! I enjoyed it so much!!"

"I discovered this restaurant on Google and decided to give it a try based on the positive reviews. I admired the Mexican ambiance and decor of the place. The hostess/server was attentive and friendly. I appreciated the complimentary chips, salsa, peppers, and radish bar. The Tostada was simple yet delicious. One dish was enough for the two of us, especially with the complimentary chips and salsa. This is a great spot to experience authentic Mexican cuisine. The prices are reasonable, the food is tasty, and the service is quick."

"I heard about this hot pot restaurant from a co-worker so I wanted to give it a try. My girlfriend and I came to Seapot on a weeknight so it was not busy. I like the idea of a conveyor belt to deliver your food it was kind of like you would find at a sushi boat restaurant. The food were in small dishes and thus in small portions so we can try basically everything. The have a variety of foods to cook and my girlfriend likes the Chinese fried bread. The meats the staff brought them to our table. We had our own hot pot but we could also share. The staff were very attentive to our needs and collected the empty food dishes. The background music was OK and maybe a little loud but it depends on your music tastes. Since it was all you can eat, the final restaurant bill was fairly reasonable. I really like this restaurant and would come again."

"What a great extension of their San Francisco North Beach location! I grew up eating Golden Boy, walking past their Green Street store front and seeing their pizza displayed in the window--but I digress.This is a wholesale only business and there is no dine-in option. You cannot buy by the slice and must order by the half sheet (4 giant slices). The square pieces are focaccia with toppings, also known as Sicilian style, pan pizza, maybe even consider it Detroit style. Call it what you want, it 's just plain and simply delicious. Your best bet is to call in your order and pick it up...it will take a longer to order at the counter and wait for your order. There is no parking lot--street parking only. If you are able to go with 2 people, one of you can sit in the car, while the other runs in to pick it up. Depending on what you order the price for 4 pieces is about $13. We ordered the clam and garlic (my personal favorite) and the combo, 8 squares came out to about $30. I thought 2 squares was enough for me, so there were leftovers for the next day--what 's not to like about next day cold pizza. I added hot honey to my combo piece for extra deliciousness (they don 't carry it, it 's something I have a home).It 's awesome that you can see their trademark pointing finger from Highway 101."

"I was in the area on Thursday and came across a small sushi restaurant as many shops were closing. The interior is simple with cozy decorations and furnishings, clearly a family-operated business. They offer a variety of rolls and combo options for bento boxes and rice bowls. We chose the bento 3 which included chicken teriyaki, sashimi, and tempura, along with California roll pieces, rice, salads, and miso soup. We also tried the furogu roll and honey roll, as well as some delicious steamed edamame. Though the honey roll was just okay due to the cucumber, the furogu roll was fantastic with decent cuts of fish. The bento was a great value with generous portions, meant for sharing. Despite not being the best in presentation or cuts, the food was still tasty. The service was quick and friendly, and it was evident that many locals frequent the restaurant and are on good terms with the owners."

"Great plate lunches and one of the best selections of Hawaiian goods on the mainland (in my experience) and the prices are good and sometimes better than in Hawaii. Staff is always super friendly and happy to answer questions. They also carry some basic Asian market staples like curry pastes, a number of noodles and sauces and plenty of furikake. Definitely worth a visit if you're in San Mateo and need those ono grindz."

"This restaurant is the real deal. It's the perfect place to experience authentic Chinese home cooking. You don't come here for the ambiance, you come for a delicious and satisfying meal. We tried dishes like walnut shrimp, Beijing-style pig belly, beef wrapped in pancakes (similar to Beijing duck but with cold beef), chili beef, fluffy pancakes, and noodles with black bean sauce. Each dish had its own unique and delicious flavors. What really sets Beijing Alley apart is the fact that everything is freshly prepared. The handmade noodles were incredibly fresh and had a great texture. You can even see the owner making dumplings in the back of the restaurant, making it clear that this is a family-run establishment. While the presentation and atmosphere may not be the best, this place is all about the food. I will definitely be returning to Beijing Alley frequently."

"Literally my favorite restaurant in the entire world. I live in Chicago now but whenever I visit family in the Bay Area, I have to come here at least twice. Some of my favorite dishes: stinky tofu, beef noodle soup (best I’ve ever had), pork chops, and scallion pancake. But, I don’t think I’ve ever tried anything I haven’t liked here so would recommend you try everything!"

"Amazing food and great service! Food was super delicious, and service was friendly, prompt, and professional. They have an awesome half price happy hr. We bowled and were able to eat while doing so. The alley and balls are a bit dated, not quite old looking enough to be considered retro. It could use some updating, either to make it resember the 50's more, or more modern. Also, it is a bit expensive, though prices are as expected for the area. Spent $160 for 4 ppl 2hrs. Plates were about $17+ and drinks $15+ outside of happy hour. Overall great experience, will go again for happy hour"
