"To start we've walked by this restaurant so many times and it's always busy and the food smells wonderful. Tonight we decided to try it and so pleased we did. We started off with drinks I had the blackberry frozen margarita... absolutely great. Next we had guacamole, salsa chips.... Great!!! The salsa had just the right amount of heat and guacamole was delicious. My daughter had the grilled shrimp tacos and my husband and I both had the shrimp scallop scampi.... It was really wonderful and not a dish you expect from a Mexican venue. No question Agave is now one of my absolute favorite restaurants now!!!!"

The Quick: First time in, very impressed. Options for everyone and the chef accommodated our vegetarian/ vegan requests with grace. Lots of local fish options as well.

Very nice restaurant in Greenport. The inside is dark and not quite the waterfront vibe some people look for, but the food, drinks and service was very good and reasonably priced for the area. We had fish and shrimp tacos and sangria, all were very tasty.

I give this restaurant only one star because the customer service was appalling. The food was good. But the taste of food could not overcompensate for the poor service we received from the waitress named Daisy. When I questioned Daisy about not getting our food after 40 minutes of waiting, her response was do you want your check. Instead her response should have been apologetic. The manager on duty instead did apologize and comp our drinks. But our experience had already been spoiled.

"The wait staff did not have knowledge of drinks/dishes because they said they’re “not from this country “ but isn’t that part of the job? Pretentious and overpriced with a fabulous sunset view. "I have actually been eating here since they opened. South fork resident for 40 years . And SI visitor in my youth. I was a bit shocked at 19 kids chicken fingers ‘and 44 for a bowl of Bolognese. We all split something but still thought a little . However fabulous food and services and great ice cream for kids!!"

"I wish there were six stars with which to rate this restaurant. Nothing on the east end of Long Island compares to it for quality of food. It's like Stone Creek when they were just getting a name for themselves. The building is modest but mostly hand built and creative and cool. The staff are talented, devoted, hard working, proud, and yet quiet and modest. So secluded and hard to get to, being out on Shelter Island, but those who let small obstacles get in the way miss out on a lot. But there are real pros behind the scenes and they are putting it all out there. Start with the houses's Petite Chablis, awesome. Then run, dont walk to the Tuna tartar tacos. There is a franchise just in those tacos alone. The shells are like nothing you have ever tasted. Then order the calamari salad. I never get calamari, but this is a gem. Then, the entrees are everything you could ask for. Take your choice. Nice people, great craft, bon apatite. You can go to the overpriced, mediocre, pretentious, place in town, or you can drive to the Shelter Island ferry and explore cooking as an art and a craft. We live in Westhampton and this is our new favorite place."

"what a great place to get out! diverse menu, we had several different meal times from the menu and all were very fresh delicious, including the guacamole, pico and fries, friendly service. in any case, our newer way, whenever we are on the island!"

"Overall a great place to stay in Greenport, but a bit pricey for what you get. Nice boutique hotel. Non-standard layout. Lobby looks like a storefront and rooms are not connected. Rooms are above other storefronts on main street with private entrances. Parking is tough. Only street parking and not even a place to unload without double parking. Staff was pleasant and very accommodating. Breakfast is brought to your room each morning in a picnic basket. Bagels, fruit, juice and hot coffee. Rooms were decorated nice and spacious enough for an old building. Expect LOTS of noise till 2-3 in the morning though. Bars downstairs and the sound is not subtle."
