"We were thinking of grabbing Mexican food last night when I came across some recommendations of El Barco in Urbandale/Clive. We ended up giving them a shot — and boy am I so glad we did. We have recently moved to the area and have been on the hunt for Mexican food that reminded us of our favorite spot back home. About halfway thru the meal it was decided that we had now found something BETTER. My boyfriend had the steak tacos I had the vegetarian burrito/enchilada meal with rice. Super nice people from greeting to our great servers for employees. Food was hot, delicious, fantastic! Tamales and Hartschaletacos tasted authentic. Very clean restaurant and the best place I ate in a while. A beautiful hidden jewel. El Barco's ready!

I love this place. Everything about it amazing. Always great service, food is always on point, good prices. Used to have a close connection with El Nebel, but from late the woman and I have decided that El Barco wins in any category. Stop the good workers!

"Our go to place for Thai food! We have loved giving them our business for take out, especially during quarantine, as it’s always consistent and one of our favorite restaurants! "I was in this place last night with my girlfriend and had quite a great experience, I loved the illuminated ambience of this restaurant, the stand near the sushi bar and the feeling and surroundings of this place. We ordered the spicy chicken dumplings as an app along with the miso soup and both were delicious! On our entrees, she ordered the General Tsaos Chicken, I ordered the Thai coconut Curry Cashew shrimp, spicy tuna reel, spider roll and the crispy king's crab reel. I ate ALOT from Sushi in my life and for places in Iowa this was some of the best sushi I had in this state without question! Everything was very fresh and tasty, but regarding this $15 king crab roll I'm not sure if I recommend that, as the crab meat is crushed, that throws me away, I had expected it to come quite, but in both ways it was bad! Our server was very friendly and came with a smile, she asked how the food was, what is common and of course the food was amazing! I asked if we wanted to refill and quickly returned with a smile: our bill came to $88. And some change, I typed $32 and we left happy, our server and the staff that was around, said thank you for the top and the business: Great place, coming back!"

"So Had. Taco salad, lots of bland boiled ? beef, some lettuce and a slice of a tomatoe on top with a dolup of sour cream. was shocked very tasteless. I have been here many times, so they have always had the best food and services! And have had the taco salad before! Is it them cutting costs? I would still totally recommenand this awesome mexi to an restaurant!!!"

"It was my first time here and we showed up on a whim. I didn't think I'd feel comfortable because I was in a hoodie and sneakers but I didn't feel out of place which is something I appreciated as soon as we walked in. My Strawberry Mojitos were fresh and strong and he liked his Martini's. The shrimp on the appetizer list is PHENOMENAL. As was the Bruschetta. We both had Steaks and Brussel Sprouts. I had a Baked Potato that he shared with me and I took a slice of cake home... And let me tell you it was the best cake I've ever had. Service was as amazing and the prices were great as well."
