"I have eaten at King of the Roll at least 5 times since I moved to Portland last year, and every single time has been an excellent, perhaps even glowing experience. I have never waited to be seated for more than 60 seconds, and the waitresses always are warm and friendly. As atmosphere goes, I would say that it's about average. This is my favorite sushi place in Portland. It isn't fancy and the atmosphere is very casual but the food and the service are always excellent. Their specialty rolls are delicious, the sushi is fresh and well prepared. Also the cooked foods are tasty but offer a variety for those who might be wary of trying raw seafood.

They are truly the king of the roll. They rank second on my favorite sushi joints in Portland, mainly because of John's fabulous roll creations. The Casco Bay roll is a MUST have and any roll that is on special. The pieces are of high quality, though many were frozen and not accurately 100% fresh. Always a nice place to stop, especially during the summer when you cant find a place to park they have a lot behind Joe’s smoke shop. Check this place out if you’re looking for the most creative rolls in Portland.
