"I had high expectations for Mitchell's. The menu and decor reminded me of Legal Seafood (one of our favorite restaurants in Boston, so that's a very high compliment). Our waitress was outstanding. She quickly brought out our clam chowder soup and bread (both very good), as well as our daughter's noodles, which made us all happy since we were starving. When our main courses arrived (with a bit of a longer wait than expected), my husband's food was lukewarm. Our fantastic waitress took it back, had his dinner remade, and removed his entree from our bill. The service was excellent. However, the food did not live up to the service or atmosphere. I ordered the Shanghai Seafood Sampler (salmon, scallop, and shrimp combo on spinach and sticky rice). While the salmon was decent, the shrimp and scallops were bland. The overpowering soy ginger sauce at the bottom of the bowl may have been compensating for their lack of flavor. Even after being remade, my husband's cod was chewy. He believes that despite being listed as fresh on the menu, the texture hinted at being frozen. The prices were high (around $20 per dinner) especially considering the mediocre food quality. Overall, the service and atmosphere would make me consider returning, just to see if it was an off night. However, next time, we may opt to try them for lunch."
