"My dining companion and I stopped for a late lunch at The Vierling today on the recommendation of a local salesperson. We were seated in a nice spot in the dining area overlooking Lake Superior. I wanted to try the fresh whitefish and my friend chose the black bean burger. Unfortunately the fish was in some kind of batter that was greasy and unappetizing as the onion rings were also. Went here for dinner with family and we were not disappointed. Great little place and seated at table facing the water and ore dock. Meals and appetizer was wonderful....everything tasted great. Only complaint is that some of that some of the wait staff didn't seem to be the friendliest.

We ended up eating here twice while in Marquette. Once for drinks and the whitefish bites as an appetizer, and they were awesome! We enjoyed the atmosphere and view over Lake Superior so much, we returned for dinner. The salmon and whitefish were perfectly prepared. Salads were fresh, good service, just overall a nice place to relax and enjoy dinner. Also a great selection of craft beers, which we loved! We would definitely return!

I have read good reviews of this place. So we took a chance, beautiful building and history, so ok. Good service and nice table. Now it all went down hill. I ordered salmon a piccata. Great I knew it would be a wee bit salty because of the capers. I ordered the rice an wild rice blend after asking if there was any meat stock in the preparation. The server said no. It was so salty and I detected a stock(which played out 30 minutes later with me being sick) the salmon was over cooked and hard. I told the server, didn’t want another serving because it would been a waste. I will not recommend.
