"I am so disappointed with a visit to Restaurant X and Bully Boy Bar 7/30/23 . This establishment was the special occasion dining place in Rockland County. The atmosphere is tainted by the rundown exterior, grounds and interior of the dining rooms. The grounds in its heyday were beautiful. Now it is an overgrown neglected lot. The pond is thick with weed edging and green algae. The exterior is dirty , rotting and broken pieces of wood are visible from the street. It could use a good power washing ,painting and carpenter. Upon entering the the diner is hit with an overpowering scent of mildew. By the time the stairs are ascended, the diner is so used to the smell . I was greeted by the lovely hostess who seated my party by a large picture window. Our wait staff was very attentive . The first thing I noticed when I was seated was the air conditioning vents covered with dust and rust clearly a sign of poor housekeeping and neglect. Light fixtures were also covered with dust and dirt. Peeling paint visible around windows. Cracks on the wall by the fireplace. Black dots on the ceiling tiles I could only assume to be black mold . Broken spindles on chairs were all part of my view. The carpet was filthy. I could see visible tracks . The carpet was threadbare on the 3 steps leading to out table . Why is this tripping hazard and health violations allowed to exist? Broken window covered with cardboard and a single curtain was poor camouflage. The cloudy window was covered by a shade inside ,but visible from the parking lot. Peter Kelly may have his prestigious awards. His photos with television chefs did not impress me. I'd like to know the last time he was in this establishment? Clearly he hasn't been. I'd like to know how he spent the millions be received from the government PPP program. It wasn't on the restaurant . I will not even begin to critique the food. If salty sauces are a thing ... we have a winner. I probably never return to this former showplace . I left sad and duped . I felt sad for the customers still inside and those to come. This was an amazing place in its prime. The owner has a full ego and needs to know what his neglect caused."
