"Always a pleasure to come to the great escape because of their food selection. Their ribs are one of the best in Illinois, fall off the bone great barbecue sauce it’s a total winner. You must also try their French fried shrimp order broasted chicken both are a complement to the ribs and are delicious. Fred Ronden soup one of the best tray you’ll love it. Enjoy"

"The atmosphere and service are great. However, the food leaves a lot to he desired. We started out with the cheese plate and crab cakes. Those were both good. Then our table had the falafel, two steaks, creamy tomato soup, and I had the mushroom stroganoff. The falafel was dry. The steaks were cooked okay but the sides (twice baked potato and squash were mediocre. My stroganoff was so salty I couldn't eat much of it. The salt overpowered any other flavors it had. (They did take that off our tab. Our drinks were good. Our server was very nice. It's a beautiful atmosphere. But for a total check of around $245 (without tip , I expect much more from the food. I would recommend going for drinks and apps only, unfortunately."

"Prime rib was perfect, the manager Kat was so nice and greeted us as we came in (Friday). I’m pretty sure our waitress Debbie is magic like a wizard or Mary Poppins, she would pop up right as soon as we could think of anything to add to our order. 10/10 would do again!"

"Food was undercooked, visibly pink and still cold. Manager’s response was the pink was from being smoked which didn’t make sense. It was obvious the food was undercooked. Would not return to this location. The manager also did not apologize for the situation. Waitress was great, very polite and helpful. First and last time going to this location. Spent over $100 on food that simply was not worth what was offered."

"I usually have my order delivered but I dined in. Table wasn't wiped clean, I ask for someone to do so and they obliged. I will say that since this pandemic, I'd thought establishments would've leveled up on cleanliness, but, I guess work ethics have taken a dive too since the pandemic. I prefer delivery, food is good, but I will stay home and eat from my table. I think the restaurant has undergone a change in management bcuz when I was there last, there was someone else who managed it."

"Living with major gluten issues, is difficult-especially when I go out to eat. I called ahead of time to ask about their GF options. I told them I was interested in a salad dish. They called the chef, got ingredients, and I called them back. They told me specifically the ingredients of the dressing and it was completely GF. When I arrived, they knew about my gluten issue and they were able to prepare my dish separately!!! I didn’t get sick. The strawberry salad and chicken was DELICIOUS. I’ll be going back! My boyfriend loved the shrimp tacos.Dietary restrictions: They went over and beyond to cook my dish separately (gluten allergy)."

"The food we ordered was good (once we got the right order . They don't serve any big meals like a larger diner or restaurant. It's mostly bar food and fries (lots and lots of fries! They served me a meal that wasn't what was ordered or even close. They did eventually make it right but it was a good while after the rest of our group was served and eating. "We found out about Blue Heron Catering by a Google search. Blue Heron Catering was top notch from the beginning to the end of our wedding process! Julie, was extremely helpful with food choices, a day of timeline, and was quick to respond all throughoutthe planning process. We chose the beef brisket, pesto chicken, creamed corn, red skin parmesan potatoes, and Michigan salad forour wedding meal. Our guests raved about the food! As the bride, I wish I was able to eat more of the food (such as try thepesto chicken since I never got the chance to). I would definitely choose Blue Heron to cater another event."
