"I really wanted to like this place and give them grace. With a wife working in the restaurant business during the pandemic I get the challenges associated with being short staffed. And I should have read the other 200+ reviews on Yelp before visiting. I came in with a plan to work on my computer while waiting for my son at swim practice. I planned to order the nachos and the special Tuesday $5 margarita. I walked in (feeling something strange) and waited/wandered around for about 10 minutes trying to find a host. I finally stopped the only server I could see and asked her for a seat. She told me that I could sit anywhere. That's when I realized what was strange: I couldn't easily find a table because there were 8 tables sections completed covered with used dishes and old food. Obviously people had left but because of the way the tables were organized I only had three tables to choose from inside and four outside. I found a spot and then had to wait nearly 15 more minutes until the server came. I even had to go get my own menu from the hostess area (but no host was there). That was also when I realized there was only one server. When she finally arrived with complementary chips and salsa. I told her I wanted the nachos and the $5 margarita. I specifically asked if the $5 were running this Tuesday and she told me yes. The chips I realized had been sitting in an alcove in the back they were cold and soggy like they get when there's too much oil and they cool off. I ate a couple then stopped because I knew I was getting nachos. When the nachos came after one bite I realize the same old chips were used. I had to grab the server and apologized for the inconvenience but asked for another plate of nachos with new chips because they were cold and soggy. She told me they couldn't only that they could add more cheese and beans. I also asked for the wireless password and what she told me didn't work but I just gave up on that. When I finally asked for the bill I saw that I'd been charged for a large margarita and asked her to change it. She said it was because I ordered the large. She told me the $5 one was the smaller one. I asked her if she remembered me asking for the $5 one to which she said yes and then said sorry and didn't change it. I've been to the Casa in Orland Park and had extremely different/great experiences. This location in Hinsdale was extremely disappointing. When I left three more tables were left unattended and mine, I imagine, made 4. A person had came out to bus a table but left the bin at the table and walked away. I give two stars and a 20% tip only because I have sympathy for the 3 person staff and everyone has bills to pay, but I won't come back again."

"I've been going to fireside for many years and have always held together a Christmas party. since it has moved, it is not the same and every year it will continue from it's origin. we liked it when it had comfortable sofa 's and chairs. that is now lost with the hard benches. luck the hour was cut out this year, which was a disappointment, and there is only one martini on the menu of the four I got earlier. there are all new workers there now and none of them know how to make the old martini's and three of my friends had this old thing martini as they usually do and said it was terrible. we have decided that next year we will make another place. it's really too bad as it used to be a great place to go with friends. I wish the new owners a lot of luck!"

"My husband and I have traveled both throughout the nation and internationally and we eat everywhere in different places, even in TV shows. Although it has been two years since our visit, we talk about Charlies as the best place we've ever eaten! Phenomenal food, the incredible service and a relaxed atmosphere. We often recommend going somewhere and we wanted you to know that we are now in Pennsylvania and still talking about what a great experience it was! Everybody picks up the chef and we'll get back west and go back sometime!"

"This was the first place I visited in Santa Barbara and I couldn't be happier! This location had a nice blend of pasta, pizza, and other fares such as seafood and risotto. My friend had the pesto and chicken gnocchi, which was perfectly balanced. The pine nuts, were also a nice touch. I had the mushroom risotto, which was perfectly sprinkled with mozzarella cheese. The outdoor seating was adorable and the tables had a firepit in the center. The service was quick and prices were very reasonable. My only gripe was that the salad I ordered was drenched in balsamic dressing and had far too many red onions. I was picking them off at a certain point."

"My family is Italian, and let me tell you, the chicken parmigiana I had at this restaurant was absolutely amazing! My wife and I ordered takeout, two chicken parm dinners, and we were truly impressed. The flavors were outstanding and we were thrilled with our meal. 5 stars!"

"After much anticipation about going to this restaurant, we made a reservation for our anniversary with our kids. The initial impression from the staff was definitely that they were indifferent and disinterested. We had an outdoor table and it was a cool evening and we were told we would have to wait for a portable heater because they were all situated at the front of the restaurant where people were still dining. This seems like poor planning but we waited without even questioning it and watched as all of the tables left, the staff bussed those tables and finally brought us the heater. When they were good and ready. The food was good as expected. The real problem came when the server actually forgot two entrees, mine and another guest’s. She had to ask us to repeat the order and then claimed the food should be “right out” and while everyone sat with their food getting cold, we realized it was not coming soon. Our party was almost done when my filet arrived. I declined it. They never acknowledged the mistake. They never apologized. They never made any accommodations. It was my anniversary dinner and they did not mind that I didn’t have a meal. They didn’t do anything for the anniversary even though it was clearly indicated in my reservation that we were celebrating. In the aftermath, I’m really angry about it and I’ll never go back here despite enjoying the food and the atmosphere. We had a good time in spite of this establishment’s amateur-grade staff."

"We went because of the show Bloodline. Cool to sit at a high top by the canal but other than that...I get that times are tough. We still tipped our server very well. But if you get limited vacation meals and aren't a Bloodline fan I wouldn't bother. The table was dirty, house salad came with diced tomatoes as if leftover from prep of a different dish, the conch Fritters were all batter. They were out of the first 3 beers we named, our waitress went to eat her own dinner just as we were finishing ours so there was no one to clear plates, bring the check, ask how things were."

"The overall atmosphere was nice as they are upgrading the outdoor patio space. Riverview is exceptional. Lovely place to watch the sunset. You won’t miss any games as the TVs all the way around the bar area are great. Also liked the separate and quieter dining area. The .50 Asian wings were great. The grilled chicken with asparagus and mashed potato was excellent. The Prime Rib special for $19.95 was good but a bit too cooked and was smothered in too much crumbled cheese for my liking. Overall, I’ll be coming back to try more of the menu. It’s a nice place and the winter prices are very good."

"Unimpressive and not worth the cost. Although it overlooks Lake Champlain, the whole place has a cheap Long John Silvers vibe. Plastic cups and paper napkins are the norm. Considering the location and prices you would expect first class service in a more refined setting. The $16 Shoreside Mary will get you an 8 ounce drink over filled with ice. During my visit I requested the surf and turn option but was told it was unavailable with the bacon. Halfway through my meal my server was swapped with a different one but then changed back again. The shrimp scampi was quite awful and came with no sides despite what the menu says. Lemon overwhelmed all the other flavors, it seemed to have sweetener of some kind and the noodles were over cooked. Also, for a state that take pride in its dairy, there wasn't even a hint of butter in this recipe. Overall, I would avoid this place in favor of better choices. They really have no clue what they are doing."
