"Consistency is under-rated and under-valued in our “I want it now” society. Everyone wants the newest, hippest thing regardless if it’s any good. I have been going to Tallyrand for the past 10 years on a weekly or at times daily basis. In talking with Mark, one of the owners, it’s nice to hear that he does not compromise on his ingredients. He knows what works and is consistent. He once told me that he can not change his turkey recipe because he has it down to a science and couldn’t make it any better and he is right. When you do something well, why change? Sometimes the hard part is to not tinker with success. I look forward every year on Saint Patrick’s Day for their corned beef and cabbage. They offer a hearty portion of corned beef over cabbage with boiled potatoes and carrots. I try to get there early because sometimes there is a wait. The corned beef is cooked to perfection and is lean. For breakfast, this place has the best oatmeal hands down. It’s thick and creamy and you can have fresh fruit or raisins as it comes with a side of brown sugar, butter and milk. I always eat mine with just butter and Equal. For about a year I ate this everyday and I never got tired of it. The chili hash and eggs are to die for as the hash browns are nice and carmelized and add a perfect crunch. The King burrito is satisfying and filling. Sunday’s features eggs benedict with a Hollandaise sauce made fresh that morning. That sauce is straight out of a Le Cordon Bleu textbook for quality and taste. Once you have eaten here for breakfast it’s kind of hard to go to one of those chains places. Tallyrand offers fresh ingredients at an affordable price. Sure you can find a cheaper breakfast place but the food simply will not be as good and satisfying. Other highlights include their hamburger steak (meat grinded fresh daily), Cobb salad and the appetizer platter which really puts a smile on your face. Heads up, on March 10th they are rolling back their prices for their 50th anniversary"

"5/19/18 This place is really in the middle of nowhere, but you probably already know that if you 're looking at this. I can 't really recall though whether there 's much of any choice though around here, so, you might be stuck between a rock and a hard place... Yeah, the food sucks hell. And you definitely would expect that given there really ain 't anything you 'd come to recognize as a place to eat anywhere around here. BUT, what is keeping me from giving them 1 single lonely star is that I actually feel bad talking **** about their food cause the lady working here is so nice. I really don 't wanna hurt her feelings cause she seems like a great person, but man.... no way around it the food sucks amazing hell... 1. Pork Wings 'N ' Fries $8.50: OMFG.... you get 3 tiny pieces of.... what? pork turd? Not only are they ugly as f, they taste like they look. Did I mention they 're TINY??? like maybe 1/2 the meat you 'd find on a good country rib 's worth of meat. And it was super dry and ultra flavorless. The fries were kinda like McDonald 's, which would be a good thing, but nothing can offset how badly made these pork turds were. 1/10 2. Chocolate Chip Cookie: Can 't believe they screwed up a frickin ' chocolate chip cookie. Like who does that? It 's hard, but not crunchy. Not sure if it was meant to be chewy or crunchy, but whatever it was meant to be don 't matter cause it ain 't going in my mouth no more. 2.5/10 3. Sweet Potato Tots $4.00: WOW. After those 2, I dunno how they managed to do this, but these are AMAZING! So juicy, and that sweet potato piping hot insides are so yummy. Ultra flavorful, like the complete opposite of those pork wings. After eating this, I dunno why I 've never seen such tots anywhere else. 10/10 So........ that sweet cashier (owner? came over and made the mistake of asking me how I liked the pork (yeah, she recommended them. Well, I ain 't the type to lie, so yeah, I told her they were dry. She apologized and left..... but then later came back and sincerely asked how she could make things right. I told her I 'm okay but that I really appreciated that she made the offer. Kindness goes a long way... ...well... some a 'ways anyway... was gonna give this place a 1 like I said, but... 2/5 #grandlake #colorado #wedding #americanfood"
