"I can't understand how this restaurant has such high ratings from reviewers. Are they confusing it with another establishment? The lunch menu at Beijing China is quite disappointing. Yes, it’s affordable and the portions are large enough to feed an army, but most of the dishes have an artificial, freeze-dried taste and texture after being rehydrated. My colleagues and I tried several options from the lunch specialty list, including the Szechuan bean curd, orange chicken, and Mongolian beef, and they were all terrible. Having studied in Beijing, I have a decent understanding of good Chinese cuisine. While I know this isn’t San Gabriel or Rosemead, even frozen “Chinese” dinners from Swanson are tastier. Please avoid this place if you can. If you must eat here, stick to the regular menu. The miraculous soup and some of the noodle dishes are edible, but definitely nothing special."
