"I recently tried this restaurant for the first time and I'm so glad I did. The food was delicious, fresh, and well-prepared. The lamb shawarma plate had real sliced lamb, and I loved that I could add baba ghanouj and grape leaves, both of which were top notch. The baba ghanouj was one of the best I've ever had. I also enjoyed the pickled vegetables and olives, and appreciated the option to choose salad instead of rice as a base. The pita bread was fresh and not dried out, unlike some places that serve dried pita wedges. The pistachio baklava was also delicious, moist, and flaky. I can't stop thinking about it now!"

"A minty iceberg lettuce salid, lovely baba ganoush, hot falafel (yum), exotic hummus, and warm pita, for less than $10! Oh, and spiced olives. A delightful combo. There were stuffed grape leaves too, but they may have come from a can. Good, but not fresh tasting."

"Back in the 1970s, I would trek down to Macdougal Street in Greenwich Village whenever I wanted a falafel sandwich--that was the only place in NYC to get falafel. The best falafel sandwiches were to be found at Mamoun's--and arguably that is still true. Since then, felafel places have sprouted all over NYC, and I am happy to see that Mamoun's has an uptown branch as well. This place is counter serve, mostly for takeout, though they have a few benches to sit and eat (and Central Park is not far away). I did not see a bathroom for customers. This place is not all vegan, but they do have some good mideastern choices. For an elegant vegan meal, you would be better off at (the much pricier) Blossom across the street. But for a quick, inexpensive bite, Mamoun's is a good bet."

"The Manhattan Sandwich (vegetarian) was delicious, would definitely get again. The Grape Leaves were subpar. The filling was good but the leaves themselves were tough and tasted unusual."
