"Back in the 1970s, I would trek down to Macdougal Street in Greenwich Village whenever I wanted a falafel sandwich--that was the only place in NYC to get falafel. The best falafel sandwiches were to be found at Mamoun's--and arguably that is still true. Since then, felafel places have sprouted all over NYC, and I am happy to see that Mamoun's has an uptown branch as well. This place is counter serve, mostly for takeout, though they have a few benches to sit and eat (and Central Park is not far away). I did not see a bathroom for customers. This place is not all vegan, but they do have some good mideastern choices. For an elegant vegan meal, you would be better off at (the much pricier) Blos...

Back in the 1970s, I would hike to Macdougal Street in Greenwich Village if I wanted a falafel sandwich - that was the only place in NYC to get Falafel. The best falafel sandwiches were found at Mamoun - and this is still true. Since then, felafel has fed places all over NYC, and I am delighted to see that Mamoun also has an uptown branch. This place is the counter table, mostly for takeover, although they have a few benches for sitting and eating (and the Central Park is not far away). I didn't see a bathroom for customers. This place is not all vegan, but they have some good mideaster choices. For an elegant vegan food you would be better off (the much pricier) Blossom over the street. But...
