"A group of 4 friends and I went to brunch at Lucienne prior to musical theater. I had read some very good reviews on Open Table. We were very disappointed. It was basically empty, except for a group of about 18 guests arriving and a table for 1. We were seated at a table for 8 rather than 2 smaller tables put together. In order to chat, we had to arrange ourselves on one end of the long table. No one came to give us a cocktail menu. We had to ask for someone to come over to take our order. I had Eggs Benedict with crab cakes. the crab cakes were heavily fried with a tough outer crust. My friend did not like her lobster panini. My other friend did not care for her raclette. One friend enjoyed her crepe. Again, after waiting for awhile for someone to come to the table and ask about dessert or whether we wanted the check, we had to ask the hostess to ask someone to come over. (I had put it in our Open Table reservation that we were on a schedule and had tickets to the theater. We received our checks and the manager brought over complimentary champagne for our inconveniences. It was hard to understand why the service was so bad. The restaurant was empty except for the table for 18, the table for 1 and our table of 5. I think there was just one waiter. With as many great restaurants that Houston has now, we will not be back."
