"the second time here and I'm sorry to say both paintings were only moderately rewarded. the cocktails were both very strong yesterday evening we had the membrillo and it was not disappointed, delicious. but I think eating is only very hit and miss some of the items like chicken croquettes and the wood charcoal and cheese plates were solid. other like the smoked salmon and the fried sprouts were surprisingly “out” on different wise. the broth on which the smoked salmon was served was literally as hard as a rock that was barely chewable. the sprouts were listed as crispy fried, but came completely unnecessary deep fritted with a broth coating that was not made clear on the menu and simply not great a very heavy dish as she would get on a Friday or something like that and the sprouts were underused and hard in the middle. the server was friendly and efficient, but the place was also airport termac levels loud, as 2 very large parties rushed into a tiny space on each side of us. I was always tied by the waiting staff who tried to look over. the floor manager “slub” us that we move to another table 3/4 of the way through our meal, because one of the already huge parties had asked him to put five (5) more people than the reserved number, no thank you, not 3/4 of the way through the meal. all in all a less than stellar experience, with a few high points, but otherwise very subduing especially for the quite high price tag. oh and to finish it, the next morning I got a note from open table saying that we were not able to keep our reservation, which we so obviously send to the host who sat, not notification to open table."

"For years, my husband and I visited the Bayside Restaurant in Newport Beach. It is elegance, sophistication, European influenced modern American cuisine and enchanting ambience has never failed us. With a view to the port in Newport Beach, chef Paul Gstrein composes his culinary surprises in the Bayside cuisine, while the patrons relax and enjoy the view of the port and the sounds of nightly live entertainment. My husband prefers Bayside's hamburger, just like me. So when we were informed that “services are no longer just for tacos”, we had to visit one of our top ten favorite places on Tuesday, as their ad campaign cleverly explains. From 7pm every Tuesday, their enormous burgers are only $7 out of their normal price at $15.75. Quite a bargain, especially if you are at Bayside for their happy hour. From this favorite time of the day, Bayside offers it to close happy hour in the lounge, at the bar or on the terrace daily from 5 pm. It is a fairly extensive menu, including cocktails and small plates farewell in a traditional, beautifully presented Californian style. Chardonnay and Merlot glasses are a simple $6 per, while the Cabernet is a simple $7.50. Seagrams Vodka martinis include the traditional Cosmopolitan, the Watermelon martini and its classic version. The photo below shows our Watermelon martinis we tried (we try it quite often! A nice note to Bayside table service during her happy hour is that they bring warm Ciabbata bread to your table... even if you just order appetizers. These freshly baked rolls of beautiful baked dough could not be more perfect. Served with small smokers of chilled sweet cream butter, this compliment follows every meal that follows. (See all photos and complete review at SavorHour.com Now on these amazing hamburgers we mentioned. Below is the burger without which my husband cannot live. Offered with crispy salad, sliced tomatoes and Mayo, you will not believe the incredible taste that comes from this sandwich! Gently, juicy, cooked for perfection... and the crispy, but softly roasted Ciabatta bung really meets the brand! Below I had to show how beautiful this burger is... and how massive! (Photos at Savorhour.com We also dressed in Bayside's Chicken Chop-Chop Salad with asian bouncers and a spicy sesame down... crispy Tortilla Stripes up with juicy white meat chicken stable, the cries Savory! Bayside’s Happy Hour Penne Pasta with its fully flammable lamb Ragu and Pecorini cheese blown up is only heaven on a plate. Large enough for two, it is one of the many excellent small plates we recommend order. We also appreciate the autumn salad below. Prepared with Arugula, Pear, Grapes, Blue Cheese, Onion and Prosciutto, this was a tasteful and slightly tasty choice that is almost a meal in itself... Another article on Bayside's Happy Hour Small Plates menu is that the Tiger Prawns are served over a couscous salad with crispy vegetables. The couscous is cooked exactly right, and the shrimps are perfectly delicate and delicious! At the bottom, the cast iron seared salmon filled a very satisfying with a creamy delectable lemon risotto and asparagus. Finally, an article my husband and I have enjoyed for almost ten years... Bayside's classic Tartare Of Tuna slightly seasoned with soya, chili and ginger, crushed avocado and sensational fresh tuna served on a bed of thin cut cucumber. Although this item is not on the Happy Hour Small Plates menu, it is on the lunch menu of the restaurant for $14.75. And trust our many evenings of pampering in this special appetizer over the years that it certainly is worth it! INSIDER’s TIP: If you prefer to dinate in the late evening hours, just remember that the kitchen in Bayside closes quickly at 9:30. So if you arrive later than most, you are ready to place your order beforehand. In the meantime, the bar serves its patrons until 10 o'clock. When you visit Bayside from 18 to 10 a.m. Monday to Wednesday, you will be rewarded by manoeuvring the voice of ivories manoeuvred by Grand Piano instrumental artist, Jimmy Felber. Behind the black baby-grand piano in the Bayside-Lounge, Jimmy's musical aptitude shimmers, making not only an inviting invitation to gastronomic facilities, but also a reason for the rest in the decor all night. From classic versions of standard favorites to complicated versions of the most popular music today, Jimmy commands the ivory buttons that reflect his own personal style and unique variations on favorites that most of every listener loves. As an instrumental artist of Grand Piano, Jimmy presents a variety of music styles that reflect his impressive list of artistic credits and experiences. He earned both gold and platinum music prizes in performing and recording with so renowned superstars like Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Al Jarreau and many others. He worked as an employee author and producer for Motown Records, contributed to film scores and has appeared on large network television, concert stages and festivals in the United States. ESTABLISHMENT DECOR: The high-end ceilings and sailing towel triangles lined up above the bar are reminiscent of an old sailing ship on an open sea, while the illuminating west coast feeling can be felt everywhere. Well worth the splurge as you will find out on your next visit this fine port view facility!"
