"Me and my wife went here yesterday after her birthday for breakfast and where do I start. I?ve came here before for drinks but I have never ate here I?ve always been told that the food was very good so I was very excited to come here and try what they had to offer. Once we were looking at the menu the food items are very extensive and prices were a little high but everything sounded really good. Me and my wife started off with breakfast burritos which came out to actually be pretty big and very delicious. We also tried their truffle fries That were perfectly cooked and crispy with every bite. My wife also decided that she wanted to try the meatballs with bread which delicious is an understatement on how great these were the bread was nice and crispy and cooked perfectly the sauce on the meatballs was excellent. I our waiter was awesome and kept my wife?s mimosa filled without even asking and was very helpful with picking out items and offering suggestions. As we were getting it to the end of our meal our waiter showed up with a dessert for my wife as it was her birthday the day before it was ice cream in a wine glass filled with whip cream and cherries and had caramel and nuts at the bottom. It was very delicious and the portion size was crazy as me and my wife won?t even able to finish it. I think me and my wife found a new spot to come and start eating hopefully weekly because we can?t get the flavor of the food they?re out of our heads. Also for the environment I didn?t know if it was going to be super loud when we went there as it is a casino but you are pretty far from the casino floor, but even if you were on the floor the whole environment is very calm and is welcoming to everybody. Great job Sammy?s."

"Absolutely love DC Vegan. I've been here for an event, and I've had an offsite event catered from here, and both times the service really went above and beyond. When I was there, it was for a small event, and not only were the staff great about accommodating and being patient with my group, but when we asked them to reduce the volume of the music so we could have our event discussion, they immediately complied. For the catering event, I asked if I could do a Monday pickup (since it was a Monday event) and not only did they agree, in spite of being closed on Mondays, but i was literally the only catering order they even had that day, so they opened just for me, which is an unreal level of restaurant courteousness. The upstaids deli space is roomy and cheery, and the downstairs Botanical Bar is gorgeous and sexy. Ideal for a date, but also really nice and chill for pretty much any dining situation. For now the stars are mostly for ambiance and service. The food has been a little more hit or miss with me, but when it's a hit, it HITS. The vegan macaroni and cheese that I ordered for the catered event was unbelievably delicious. The beet burger sliders are good, would have been better if hot, but I appreciated the spicy kick. I was a little meh on the balsamic glazed tofu, but that was the most popular item at the catered event, so I'm clearly an outlier there. The lemon dill potato salad was less popular but I personally enjoyed how light and refreshing that was, with nice bright flavors. The chesapeake fritters I had during my group event, on the other hand, were a little TOO lemony. Good coleslaw though, and my partner enjoyed his meatball sub. Excited to make drinks at the Botanical Bar my next trip, and at some point, brunch!"

"I had made arrangements a week in advanced with Joey to pick up a large order. Although it was difficult to actually get in contact with him to make the order, he was wonderful on the phone and made it sound like I would have this beautifully organized meal ready to go to feed the teachers at our school for parent-teacher conferences. Well, I showed up a few minutes early to pick up our order and received only blank stares from the staff. I want to make it abundantly clear that it was blatantly obvious that this was NOT the fault of the staff working that day. I mentioned earlier that it was difficult to get Joey on the phone to place the order in the first place, I called twice and was told that only an owner could handle it and that they'd pass my info along. It took them a week to call me and if it wasn't already decided where we were getting food in a PTA meeting, I would have found another restaurant right away. What kind of owner doesn't trust their staff to take an order? Then, when I went to pick it up, the poor kids working there were absolutely blindsided by a 35 person meal just before the dinner rush. They worked their butts off to get me that order ASAP and were absolutely apologetic, polite and professional. It's pretty clear that the top-down communication in that place is lacking, to say the least. They're lucky to have a crew that worked so hard to make them look good."
