"I saw this restaurant online and wanted to check it because it has great reviews. I don't think I'm back. I waited for 45 minutes to even be recognized. a few that went to me in 45 minutes was recognized and given me a drink. when I was about to leave someone who was flying up the server and let them know I was waiting for a long time. I wanted to dive, but after I wasn't even recognized or offered a drink during my waiting period, I decided to just get out. I ordered the reuben. I feel bad for the one server they had on the staff, but waiting for 45 minutes is an oversized. if this is waiting for so long on a Tuesday afternoon, I can only imagine that this is waiting for a busy night. the food could be good, but I was very dissatisfied with the service."

"Balkan Express is an unassuming, simple restaurant with excellent food and a friendly staff. The dishes of Yugoslav and Hungarian tradition are mostly unfamiliar to the American guests, but they are of high quality and very tasty. The prices are very reasonable and the selection is more than adequate. The restaurant is definitely worth a try when you are in Philadelphia."

"GO THERE!. We went today, before an event, at the Warner Grand, in San Pedro, which is just around the corner. They were lovely and the food was great. We will be going back, for sure. This is not a chain, with yucky fastfood. This is a great tasting, made to order, kind of place. The staff was friendly and made the experience even better. They have some unique food choices, also, which made it even more fun. Go there!"

"I just came back from eating at Selo with my mother, and the food was amazing right along with the service. We've never had Balkan cuisine, so we were recommended the Sampler for Two People and everything tasted wonderful. The portions were very manageable, not too much and definitely not too little, and everything was cooked and seasoned excellent. I chose to eat here because of many top reviews, and Selo certainly did not disappoint."

"Balkan Taste What a fun night my sister-in-law and I had sampling Serbian food. I have a digital pal who has traveled extensively in the Balkan region. I always ask what kind of food she is encountering. She replied one of her favorite was Serbian food. I googled Serbian food and found this four+stars restaurant, Balkan Taste in Mount Prospect. My pal reviewed the menu and made some suggestions. I printed off her suggestions and gave it to the waitress telling her that We were going to split everything. So she brought an extra plate. We started with Gibanica, a cheese pie with what appeared to be phyllo dough! Flaky and delicious Next came the sopska salad tomatoes onions cucumbers, and feta cheese. Very thinly sliced cucumbers with an excellent feta cheese. Then Cevapcici, which are small ground beef sausage links on a bed of chopped onions with kaymak. This was what I had been looking forward to tasting and they didn’t disappoint. We had only ordered a small portion as we were trying so much food but I was wishing we had ordered more. I forgot to take photos before we split this portion. Just when I thought the food couldn’t get any better the Gourmet Pljeskavica arrived which is a 12 ounce burger on a slice of bread stuffed with bacon, smoked Gouda and onions with kaymak. This was fabulous! Kaymak is similar to clotted cream. And for dessert we had cherry baklava which was very tasty and more tart than sweet. The perfect ending to a super feast. We had so much fun trying the different foods, asking the very helpful, friendly waitress questions about the food, listening to Serbian music playing in the background and meeting a Bosnian couple at the next table who were fun to talk with and compare our food choices. And the best part is we each have enough leftovers to have dinner tomorrow night! The Balkan Taste is in the strip mall on the northwest corner of Oakton and Elmhurst Road. Enter off of Oakton."

"Appalling service by owner! As a frequent customer of this establishment, I recommend this place to my mother who is a lifetime resident of San Pedro and knows everybody in this small town where I myself grew up. She questioned the color of the beef the owner brought from the back and he was absolutely rude to her and kicked her out, specifically telling her get out of my store and never come back. Well she won 't be back, as I won 't be back and many of her friends will not be back either. Hope you all get better service, though the employees are great!"
