"I visited Alex's Place twice in July and twice in October 2017. After my experiences there, this is most definitely my go to place for food when I stop in Batavia. I stop in there at about 3:30 to 4:30 for an early dinner. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I sat at a table for two against the wall, which was fine. The way the tables are arranged and the lighting makes it feel like you are sitting in an exclusive spot and not in the middle of a trafficky well lit restaurant. Call that atmosphere. I have to admit my selection on the first visit was not the best. I ordered the Pot Roast Sliders. There were two on the plate along with the fries and they were enormous like the size of a Kaiser roll . . . each. Enough for two people. They were just like Grandma used to make. That's not a compliment. BUT, on my second visit, I really wanted a wrap (as I did on my first visit), but they are only available at certain times (sorry, I do not remember what those times are). So I ordered the French Dip. Oh. OH. OH My Sweet Goodness! I had French Dip at a trendy restaurant in New York City a couple of months earlier and thought that was the very best I ever had. The French Dip at Alex's Place is FAR BETTER than the trendy restaurant in New York City and I will be having that again . . . and again. Big portions along with the fries, but it was so good I didn't want to stop eating. I didn't even use the dip gravy."
