"My husband and I went for an early dinner at 6:30 on New Year’s Eve. We had a reservation. Our receipt says our receipt says our server was Stephaniesu. We ordered drinks and then about 10 minutes later, we ordered dinner. We ordered prime rib and the double lobster tail and a side of mushrooms. Our dinner was taking a very long time and both of us have worked in fine dining and we know simple it is to prepare our order for service. They only needed to grill the lobster and sauté the mushrooms. At about 7:15, our server came to tell us it would be just a little longer. We questioned her about what was taking so long, we had already waited well over half an hour. First she tried to tell us the lobster has to cook “low and slow”. We know that’s not true. Then she tried to excuse it by saying “well, it’s New Years Eve and we’re busy “. We could see with our own eyes that the restaurant was only about half full. I know there is a shortage of employees right now but don’t take the reservation if you can’t provide the service. It ruined our holiday dinner that we paid nearly $200.00 for and we didn’t even have an app or a salad. We finally got our dinner after about an hour and the lobster was overcooked! It was delivered by a bus person and the hostess. They acted like they were afraid we were going to yell at them or something. I guess they thought WE were unreasonable. Our server had been chatting with co-workers and spending extra time with another table and was completely unconcerned with us. Finally she came and asked us if we needed some “boxies” to take home our leftovers. For some reason she also asked if we wanted to order some “desserties”, strange and unprofessional behavior. She never apologized and she never even acknowledged the disaster our dinner was. We paid the bill and left a 10 percent tip even though we shouldn’t have and we left. We are locals and we will not be back and we won’t recommend this restaurant to out of town guests anymore."

"we went to the tom quick in for her silvester price fixed dinner. our waitress was a young girl called kayla. we were served two rolls and four slices of Italian bread. I couldn't bite the Italian brot because it was so hard. it looked like it was burned freeze cabinet. the two rollers were hot, tasty and freshly picked from the often. the brot was served with oil, a cocktail fork and a butter knife. I asked for butter, and the waitress told me there is no butter. I giggled because I thought it was so strange, especially because a butter knife was served. my muscheln casino were delicious and hot. the tuna carpaccio my mannes was very good. next came our escape. my man had surfing and shaking. the filet was excellent, until medium cooked, as he had asked. the crab legs were also hot and tasty, but there was no cracker offered to him for his crab. my lamb was overcooked and lukewarm. the sweet was a beautiful sortiment of Brussel spears, broccoli and cauliflower, but they were cold; some bites were room temperature, other bites were cold. the kartoffels were good, but room temperature. my man eats no carbohydrates, so he asked for no potatoes, but extra sweet. the waitress told him there were no substitutions. after that we talked to a couple who sat near us. the woman had garnelen instead of crab legs as substitution because she does not eat crab legs. when we were offered coffee, we were told that there was no regular coffee. I giggled again because I thought that was so weird. we went to the silvestergala after dinner, which we really enjoyed. the band was excellent. we would recommend the gala again, in any case. I am mixed with the restaurant."

"Four of us arrived for Father's Day brunch. Outdoor seating on the patio was great. Our waitress Alyssa was attentive in the beginning. Two of us ordered french toast. One received six halfslices, one received halfslices. We did not have any butter, syrup for our french toast, nor did we have ketchup, salt, pepper, etc. for the other two meals. It was a few minutes before we saw our waitress. My husband got her attention and she started to come to our table asking if we needed anything. My husband was in midreply and she turned her back and walked to the table next to us to ask them how everything was. When she did finally return with a carrier of missing items, she also brought frozen butter pads. When we began eating the french toast, we found two slices on the bottom of the five slices weren't cooked. They were yellow and mushy without any bit of browning whatsoever... VERY different from the golden brown ones on top and in the other order. We did get a couple replacement slices with frozen butter, but at this point our waitress seemed more annoyed with us than anything. Although she did reassure us that she yelled at the kitchen unnecessary. It wasn't an enjoyable experience overall and probably wouldn't venture to return. It was disappointing given that we would return even with the undercooked french toast situation, if it hadn't been for the low grade service through most of our visit"

"I've been going to Castle Cafe for quite a few years have never been disappointed with anything. The building is historic thank goodness they've maintained its original character. I'm not a fish eater, so I can't comment there. But the buffalo meatloaf, chicken fried chicken chicken fried steak are as good as it gets in Colorado. The soups are homemade (like everything else) are on spot the cream of asparagus is the best I've had, ever. But the real reason to go here is for the pan fried chicken. OMG, my mouth waters just typing pan fried chicken. I swear it's just like my grandma made in her well seasoned cast iron skillet. Oh so crispy on the outside, oh so moist on the inside. There's a fair number of elderly folks that come here with families etc., so they are a bit light on seasoning, but nothing a dash of salt pepper doesn't fix. The pan fried chicken isn't cooked ahead of time stuck under a heat lamp, so if you're not willing to wait the 30 minutes it takes to cook, go to KFC. The mashed potatoes are lumpy with skin on, just the way they should be. If you like mashed potatoes made of flakes from a box, go to Denny's. Homemade Parker rolls are served in a basket covered with a red white cloth napkin just like grandma did. Drenching them with the boat of cracklin' gravy is almost a meal in itself. Ohhh the cracklin' gravy, if I could get away with just guzzlin' a boat or two, I'd die happy be off to clogged artery heaven yes, it's that good! And the service it's like eating at someone's house with family serving you. They are a great group that try their darndest to make your visit a good one. So, if you like good ol' down home homemade cooking, have just a little patience to wait for good food to be prepared after you've ordered it, go to Castle Cafe. If you're an impatient whiny butt sniffler, stay the heck out of my town go eat hummus in LoDo."

"We had read wonderful reviews on this restaurant and were excited to try it we were celebrating our anniversary. We arrived early and they graciously sat us at a table. I ordered the diver scallops and was told that they were out of them, so I ordered the salmon over risotto and a Storyteller’s salad. My husband ordered the bone in rib eye and a wedge salad. My salmon itself was delicious, cooked perfectly. The risotto was inedible, a strange flavor and much too salty. The vegetables were very good and cooked perfectly. The salad was very good. My husband’s steak came without a bone. When he questioned the waitress she talked to the chef and he said that was the only type of ribeye they were now serving. Apparently they are coming out with a new menu in a couple weeks and will no longer feature a bone in ribeye. However, it is still on the menu and the waitress apparently had no idea they were no longer serving this cut. This restaurant is called Storyteller’s STEAKHOUSE!! His steak was extremely tough, undercooked (requested medium), and tasteless he has had better steaks at diners. His potatoes and vegetables were good. The wedge salad was excellent. I will say our waitress was excellent and did everything possible to make our experience a good one despite the crummy steak. The manager apologized for the steak, took it off our bill (I believe it cost in the neighborhood of $48) and offered free desserts, to eat in or take home with us. Perhaps this was just an off night, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, but we have no intention of ever returning."
