"Visited the Mesquite Pit for Saturday lunch. Ordered the Armadillo eggs (very tasty brisket stuffed fried jalapenos) to start, followed by st. Louis style ribs. Party also got chopped beef and pork chop. All the entrees were delicious. Of the sides, themashed potatoes, onion rings, and green beans were standouts. And the bread is delicious! Awesome atmosphere and huge portionswill not disappoint. 5/5 can't wait to return."

"A friend and I were at a car meet in the parking lot and decided to grab a bite since we were early. Glad we did. I got a breakfast sandwich and coffee and both were good. 2 meals for $15, even better. Hard to see from the sidestreet but worth a look."

"Great place for seafood. The menu has a variety of offers, so there will be something for everyone. Prices are very reasonable. The service is pretty good, easy to be ready when they come and ask, otherwise they don't want to come back and back. The seating areas are quite spacious and there are sufficient seating. The parking space outside can be difficult if too many people inside. We love coming here."

"This quaint neighborhood diner has been a go to restaurant on a weekly basis for over two decades. Excellent burgers. Chicken,vegetable plates, tacos, fish baskets. Omelets...excellent meatloaf, chicken fried steak, buttermilk battered chicken, shrimp and it goes on. An extensive menu, but normally I go with roast beef gravy turnip greens or sweet potato fries and chicken club sandwiches. The new owners and the old owner work hard to maintain excellent products friendly service and a memorable experience...can't say enough ."

"Whatever you imagine for comfort food think that... Probably better! Where should you start? I'm pretty sure I could write a little short story about the fried chicken alone. The juxtaposition of the perfectly crisp skin meet the juicy white meat chicken was a really rare treat for roasted chicken... Most attempts at fried chicken end soggy and full fat these days that it is barely edible when it reaches the table. And that was just the chicken. Overall, our family and another family of 4 considered a table of 8. We enjoyed everything from the above fried chicken to picadillo soup a rue sandwich, grilled cheese and tomatoes basil soup and of course their delicious cookies. We were first tried to stop and a willing to eat grocery sandwich to meet the road home.... We're glad we didn't. Also during lunchtime was served quickly, fresh and warm. Whether you are through or ready to make a small ride for some really great food, Lazy Ladle Cafe is a must to stop if highly recommended in or around Menard!"

"I had a terrible dining experience at this restaurant. When I ordered a hot dog with chili, they did not ask about condiments or offer any on the side. The hamburger I ordered was supposed to be a cheeseburger, but the meat had no flavor. I will not be returning to this restaurant and would not recommend it to anyone else. The service was dine-in and the meal type was lunch."

"Overall it’s a great little diner. Stoped here I’m n a whim first time off n Amarillo needed something hot during a long freezing drive. Pros The server we got was very patient and friendly with our questions Laminated menus Clear times for ordering Cheep items on menus to more regular priced items good range Will allow fair substitution beans for potatoes etc Our waitress was friendly and helpful and patient with the senior citizen who I was accompanying who struggled to order and had a lot of questions Table tops clean Bathroom fair clean but plenty of paper towels and smelt fine Bilingual staff Accept card, cash and Apple Pay Leslie was awesome to us! Cons Walls and floors can be a bit dusty probably from high traffic for the fair priced food A little bit cramped layout but it felt comfortable with the environment No ramp for disabled but it’s a very small lip up to the front door Bathroom “hallway” was very narrow with no light did not allow a walker to fit for my client Egg and potato breakfast burrito was not quite worth it but the Barbacoa was solid (not blow your mind but very satisfying) Coffee is small diner standard in typical chipped mugs well used lol Over all Definitely worth a stop it’s smells good in their as soon as you open both front doors, that may swing and hit you so watch out but I feel the risk of the bruise on the but from the front door or bumping into the odd sharp corners on the way to the bathroom is worth it. It smells great, it’s lively without being overwhelming loud there’s tvs with captions on so you don’t have to fight the noise to have a conversation. A big plus is the bilingual staff was super patient with us!"

"The prices at this restaurant are unbeatable and the food is comforting. The waitresses are fantastic and make you feel right at home. It has a nostalgic, old-fashioned diner vibe and is open 24 hours a day. I enjoyed a perfectly cooked 8 oz steak and delicious mashed potatoes, just like homemade. The hot cocoa was also delicious. My dining experience at this restaurant was wonderful from start to finish. There is even a bar near the restrooms where they host lively karaoke nights. The atmosphere, food, and prices are all exceptional and transport you back to the 1950s with their friendly and welcoming service. I will definitely be returning to eat here again."
