"TLDR; Atmosphere: dated Food: food was decent Service: we were kinda ignored and the owners wife didn't seem to like us being there Outcome: not likely we'll return My veteran buddy loves Italian food and wanted to go to a new spot. Upon arrival we sat there for a few minutes waiting to be acknowledged--not like we were hiding or anything--we were in plain view of the owner! I thought it was customary to wait to be seated right? The owner finally tells us from behind the bar, we can sit anywhere. Seemed like a decent place, although, I get a little nervous when there are no other customers. Tonight, there were 2 other tables being waited on. Fast-forward, we order and food arrives. My friend ordered lasagna, I think a bottom corner of it was burnt so he was having trouble cutting into it. The one waitress noticed and asked if he needed a sharpener knife, when she brings it over, the owners wife is visibly upset stating he doesn't need a sharper knife. I personally don't appreciate when people belittle their employees. One of the dishes sounded great on paper, turned out to be incredibly heavy. I think maybe the recipe should be tweaked. My bechamel at home isn't that heavy either. The owner seemed to be hanging out with one table in particular, I was nervous I wouldn't know what to talk about when he came to hang with us... This didn't happen but it was very noticeable that their friends were in town. Dessert was pretty good. And the bill was somewhat reasonable. But based on the service, food quality to price ratio, I think if you want to try it, it might not hurt, but we won't be going back Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3"

"What a really beautiful place, one that is a perfect example of hidden gem, as I am from La Veranda many times, but so far not to stop, dine and enjoy it. The fact that she's been here and in business for 37 years is proof that they've always done things right. After I made my way through a beautiful veranda/terrace like area and entered the door, I immediately became a warm welcome not only by the owner, but also by his properly dressed perfectly well maintained staff. In addition to the veranda terrace it has a large, well decorated dining area with sparkling (my advise hand-dried) glassware and lace like tablecloths. There was a long list of food specialties, well thought out of meat, poultry and seafood. I went for her speciality of the evening a lobster Diablo together with her home salad. When the house salad arrived, it was simple, but crispy and fresh. The highlight of the salad was, however, that it came with a bowl of delicious creamy Italian house dressing, one of the best as well as the most tasty ever. The lobster came served on a good al dente linguini, a lobster allegedly of two pounds, but I actually think considerably bigger, more like good three pounds, a cover of shells, diablo sauce; a really delicious meal and for what I have more than reasonable prices at $54. When reviewing their menu and talking to their very professional waiter, Ken, I am really looking forward to trying some of their regular menu items, especially their calfs franchises, which I understand that they are hand-cut in house. The only drawbacks I have found are all relatively low, are a very shortened selection of wine, beautiful stable solid wood, but tirelessly hard on your bump without armchairs. But for what I had, for what I watched from the menu list and considering its rather elegant setting for an Italian restaurant in Pompano, it is as good as getting; therefore, five stars."

"We went to Allegria in Exton based on their recent advertisement in a local magazine in which they advertised their entree price range between $16-$20. In reality their price range well exceeded $20. We had called in advance to find out if there were dishes for children ours ages 7 and 12), and were told that simple pasta dishes were available. The menu included spahetti with marinara sauce at $9.95) and pasta with oil and garlic also $9.95), and Rigatoni with shrimp and vodka sauce $19.95). We asked for spaghetti with butter for our son and asked if we could get rigatoni with vodka sauce for our daughter no shrimp). We were told yes to the vodka sauce rigatoni, but at 6 p.m. on Saturday we were told they were out of spaghetti. So we ordered rigatoni with butter for our son. When we got the bill after dinner we questioned the full charge of $19.95 for the rigatoni and shrimp with vodka sauce since our order did not include shrimp and the $15.95 charge for rigatoni with butter, and we were told that it didn 't matter that we ordered the rigatoni without the shrimp that the price was the same and that $15.95 was the price for rigatoni with butter. Needless to say, we were grossly over-charged for simple pasta dishes and the veal dishes that my wife and I ordered were $25.95 and were only O.K. For a BYOB where we had two children 's meals with milk, two adult meals, shared one appetizer and shared one dessert we ended up spending $140 before a tip. Our tip to you is to go somewhere else. We felt cheated by this restaurant and will never return. We can eat far better at a lower price at many other restaurants in our area who are more concerned with customer satisfaction that this over priced BYOB."
