"It was full for lunch. We sat and after waiting for 10 minutes, the staff never came to the table. Looks like they can't treat many people. The waitress went to the table behind us and they sat behind us. They had coffee, water and a soft drink on the table and we were not recognized yet. Managers should really circulate and make sure their customers take care. Needless to say, we went out and we? not even stopped asking what the problem was. It's a shame because many people rave over this diner."

"I came here because the menu offers a lot and the prices were friendly. The ambience was beautiful and I really love what this place looks like. I wouldn't recommend this place. The server took a very long time to get the check on us. Speaking of what you're coming here, you're just taking cash. When I asked why it was a non-cash total, the employee reacted The credit card company paid 4% and the restaurant refused to pay. Leave the surcharge to the customer. I know many places do that, but the answer, the restaurant refuses to pay... the restaurant, I am sure, makes a lot where they can. Slow service with fraud fees. I don't recommend this place. That was just my experience."

"The place was right across my planet's gym where I've been 3 years, so I decided to try it. I have chicken and waffles, mozzarella sticks w/ sauce, chicken parmasean, pancakes with blue berries a strawberries from the brunch menu. Overall, it was a delicious meal. The only thing they have grounded was the pancakes that were not thoroughly cooked so we had to send them back. The waiter's attention was great so he wasn't guilty and I still tipped him well. The screwdriver drink I had with my brunch special was quite strong so I like it. The place was clean and there were many people. Waiting wasn't long for food. I will have gone back"

"My boyfriend and I were planning on going to IHOP but the parking lot was packed. We decided to give this spot a try instead, since it's right next door, and I do not regret the decision! Best Diner I've been to. Very quiet atmosphere, and extremely friendly. We were served by Nana and she was super sweet. Their French toast was amazing and they served delicious fresh fruit the hospitality of the staff was wonderful! : I'd definitely recommend to anyone visiting Staten Island for the weekend. "4 of us dined at Brown Dog on a Saturday evening. I had specifically asked if we could dine outdoors. There were many outdoor tables available. The host told me “possibly” when I asked about dining outside, but then we were seated indoors without any explanation. Here it was a beautiful evening be they stuck us in a dimly lit corner. Which would have been fine if it was the only table available but that didn’t appear to be the case. We weren’t too far from the kitchen and it was very loud. It sounded like trays of dishes were being dropped off every couple of minutes. The food was good, but not something we can’t wait to eat again."

"I needed a place to sit to take a conference call... and Hyland Diner was convenient... BEST CHANCE DISCOVERY OF A RESTAURANT E.V.E.R!!! I was stuck on headphones for my meeting, so my companion ordered... and we were feasted on dinner that could have fed four. A half Chicken with Greek salad, saffron rice and so many extras. And the service! Personal and caring. Worth the trip to Staten Island on its own. When next in town, expect me there. Reasonably priced to boot. A wonder."

"Hendricks Tavern is a hidden gem located in the heart of Roslyn. The service, from the valet attendants to the wait staff, was excellent and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The ambiance is warm, laid back, and relaxing. My wife had been wanting to try Hendricks Tavern for a while, so we decided to celebrate her birthday there. We made a reservation for outdoor seating and were accommodated without any issues. The food was superb! We enjoyed zucchini and eggplant chips, fried calamari, and a pizza as appetizers, all of which were delicious. For our main courses, we had Tavern BBQ Ribs and a 30oz Tomahawk Rib Eye steak, which we shared. The sides of creamed spinach, sautéed mushrooms, and hash browns were tasty, although the hash browns were a bit crunchy. Our desserts, carrot cake and homemade apple crisp, were also fantastic. The wait staff even sang happy birthday to my wife when they brought out her dessert, which was a nice touch. Overall, we had a great dining experience with delicious food, excellent service, and a relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend giving this place a try. Thank you to everyone at Hendricks Tavern for making my wife's birthday dinner special and memorable."
