"I was skeptical in coming due to many of the reviews, but I thought I'd at least get a beer and check the place out. When I read the reviews on a place I read who wrote the reviews and I note how many reviews they have written. I'm glad I stopped. Sometimes, and especially being from Arizona, no matter how much you love seafood you've got to give it a break. Don Jose's is a welcome respite from seafood in the town of Homer. I had 2 beers, the carnitas dinner and a margarita and was out of there for just under $50. But it was good food. Contrary to other reviews, you must remember where you're at. I'm sure a sushi restaurant is hard to find in the middle of Nebraska....well I stumbled onto a good find here. The carnitas were cooked very well along with the guacamole that was on the plate...fresh! Rice and refried frioles were well prepared. I sat at the bar and was immediately attended to when I sat down. Food came out in a decent amount of time and was hot. I'm in town for another week, and I will be back."
