"I recently hosted a surprise birthday party for my brother at this restaurant. The owner, Mike, along with the staff and food, were all fantastic. We had a great time celebrating together in our own section with excellent service and delicious food. I will definitely consider hosting future events here. My wife and I discovered this location in Plainview during Hurricane Sandy and have since become fans of the restaurant. I highly recommend this place for a meal, watching a game, or hosting an event!"

"Our food was overwhelming... Stuffed Hogfish was strange in the middle. Not appetizing. Filet mignon was too rare... was ordered... couldn't finish it.ate around the edge. Colossal shrimp was understated.... still translucent and chew.... my bday dinner wasn't what we hoped and it was a little expensive. Maybe a new cook would help. At that time, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone."

"Sat outside on patio. ,Service very good considering our waitress had several large tables of ladies all single checks. The clam chowder some of the best I've ever had. Fried oysters good but not great. Tripletail was fabulous. Stopped to show my wife the bar on way out and we stopped and had a drink for dessert. Very nice experience and will be going back."

"We made reservations here for a birthday celebration. The service was very poor. The waitress was inattentive and we waited for drinks and to order food. Then, when the first course was brought out, they forgot it for one of the guests and we had to flag down someone who wasn’t our waitress because she was nowhere to be found. Then we got our meal and they didn’t bring out one of the other guest’s meals. Two drinks were ordered as well. We flagged down another wait staff (still not our own) and had to ask again before the meal was brought out. We also never got the two drinks. We were all done by the time that meal came out. The manager was approached and she seemed irritated that we complained about the service. None of us are complainers, but the service for such a nice restaurant was really bad. The manager comped two drinks they brought out after the meals and walked away. She had been walking around but never checked on us. Neither did our waitress. It was very odd. With that said, the food itself was tasty when we finally got it at different times. Would be reluctant to go back here as there are many other restaurants that have just as tasty of food and have better service. All of us are full time residents and know of many other options for good seafood with better service."

"Don't bother. The best is the view. The blue crab cake is $12 it was very meaty, but bland until the rest of the meal. I had a group sandwich with Coleslaw and then a side of the onion rings. The best part was the onion rings. The grouping sandwich tasted to fish which groupers should not taste like that. The Koleslaw tasted like mayonnaise, that's it. Overall it was not worth $45 including a beer."

"This place was divine! It took a minute to find it inside. I was impressed by the baked potato soup! It was loaded with bacon, shredded cheese and sour cream. The crab cheese was overtaken! Definitely real crab. I even loved the chips I'm pretty sure made in the house! You're so good! Birkenbier has everything, along with good service and great company. Perfect for lunch! We will definitely try again."
