"Azumi is an Japanese fusion restaurant with a nice view of the water. Some issues started during ordering. Initially they weren’t able to accommodate a pescatarian for the omakase option. They were able to make adjustments on the fly, but at this price point (comparable to Michelin star restaurants) in a sushi restaurant the initial lack of variability seems a bit silly. The omakase was generally good, but had a few misses. At this price point that’s pretty rough. Dishes were also rarely explained, which would have been a good touch. As far as dishes go: Yellowtail jalapeno was oversauced. Crispy rice tuna was great in texture and taste. Tempura crab was also excellent. Wagyu gyoza was good too. The california roll was good (and uses real crab, to be clear). Sashimi and nigiri were good but not particularly standout. Wagyu beef was fantastic. The pescatarian received miso black cod, which was also delicious and perfectly cooked. The Spicy lobster miso soup was unfortunately too salty for most of the table’s taste. Dessert was a great way to end the meal though. The coconut almond chocolate bar and strawberry tofu cheesecake were all incredible. Service was generally good, with regular checkins and water always being topped off. Overall, a good experience, but probably just go for the fried appetizers, the wagyu, and the desserts. The tasting menu didn’t quite feel worth it, and the sushi didn’t stand out for the price."

"I came on a friday night, and I was actually super excited to come here. only because, I’ve passed it multiple times due to it being conveniently located near the metro. also because the entrance is super intriguing making you feel like you’re in japan (iykyk). but they fell short on their lack on communication and customer service. the hostess was quick to immediately tell us, we can’t accommodate you inside because we have reservations. never did she once, try or offer any options to satisfy us. to me, it’s about trying and doing your best. she didn’t even try and shut me down with a no and to go to the bar. until another lady accommodated us politely. I didn’t really enjoy how you have to close your tab at the bar in order to be seated. crazy how we live in 2024 and you can’t transfer checks lmao. the server was alright. I guess going to a mid-class sushi restaurant gives you inadequate service. genuinely, it makes me feel like I have to spend top quality money (like novikov, zuma, and etc) to get amazing service. I may not be a server, but the lady kept pouring water in front of me. blocking me with her hand in order to fill our waters. number one rule as a server, never block the guests view with your arms. so for the service I received was poor. leading to a no tip and no empathy for receiving a no tip. try harder to actually satisfy your guests. thank you."

"Our local friends recommended this place. As others have already written, the quality must have gone way down, as we trust our friends but they had not been there for a few years.The service is horrendous, at best. Very long waits (even though there was only 3 other tables occupied when we were there dining in), orders messed up, missing pieces and when I mentioned that something was missing, the waiter said it wasn't. I am glad he is right and I am wrong. Three times in a row. Then we got the bill $380 for the 3 of us (me, wife, one small child). The sushi is actually not bad, so I hope the owner is reading this and does something about the service. I won't be back, but others will and they deserve a better experience. Eating sushi is not just about the food. It is also about the service. Too bad as I like to support local businesses and on their website, the story is cool has been around since 1990s, came over from Japan, etc... Maybe the owner does not care anymore or has even sold the place? Is he even around anymore? Not sure, but again, the service is horrible."

"We love coming to KUU, because the food is always amazing. Sure, it's a bit pricey, but it's a high end restaurant that is owned and run by the chef. Everything tasted great from the sous vide wagyu to the softshell crab to the scallops to the makimono. My son, who can be a little finicky, completely demolished the wagyu and asparagus, even fully partaking of the fig-based sauce, and he never eats sauces or puts dressing on his salads. My wife ordered the roasted brussel sprouts, which were served with a honey sauce that cut the usual bitterness of the sprouts to the point where I would actually order them for myself, and I really don't like brussel sprouts. We were there celebrating my parents' 62nd wedding anniversary, and they brought out a complimentary dessert featuring black sesame seed brownies served with a rice sorbet drizzled with black sesame seed sauce. It was amazing! The rice sorbet was similar in neutrality to vanilla in taste but it wasn't as sweet and really left a nice clean palate afterwards. The waitstaff was very attentive, providing refills in a timely fashion, and clearing dishes as they were finished. I would definitely recommend KUU to anyone."

"Located in the vibrant neighborhood of the East Village in Manhattan, where numerous Japanese restaurants can be found, this establishment was recommended by a Japanese friend. Prior to entering, we waited in line for a few minutes at the door, but it was well worth the wait. The menu was extensive, although it lacked raw fish dishes that are typically popular in Japanese cuisine. Our friend ordered a variety of dishes for the group to share, allowing us to sample a wide range of flavors. Everything we tried was delicious, starting with a bowl of edamame beans that we had to peel to reach the tasty interior. We also enjoyed grilled fish, rice balls, and a Japanese specialty similar to a savory pancake called okonomiyaki, which was topped with a delicious crepe-like sauce. Overall, our dining experience was delightful."

"Terrible food and terrible service!! Very good! Don't come here! Bad sushi ever. Every role is $20 that it's not worth. I have the most expensive JB reel ever for $13. All the reels fell apart. They could hardly see a salmon or cream cheese in the roll. I don't know what this is about. Much better and less expensive sushi sites around. I'm very easy to like. There's hardly a star. This place is awakened for all wrong reasons. Cost reduction and customers. UPDATE The last picture is in the Umami restaurant on the street. Jb roll $8 and it looks a million times better than that of sushi sauce and is cheaper."

"I received the wrong lunch special and only received one of the two orders I requested to go. When I called to address the issue, the staff claimed I had only been charged for one order, which did not resolve the mistake. "This place used to be one of my go to sushi places in the area. However their service and food have gone downhill real fast. We were only ones eating in the restaurant yesterday and despite this, all the staff were standing around chatting about nothing in particular. One waiter and about 3 other people including the food prep guy are doing nothing but chatting. We had to flag down our waiter multiple times for basic requests, i.e. ready to order, more wasabi, and most importantly our hot sake tasted horrible with a bitter weird funky taste. We told our waiter about it who apologized and disappeared for another 10 15 mins. He finally came to take our order (still hasn 't brought us a new sake back). Another 5 10 mins he comes over and brings us a new sake and actually tells us, sorry about the sake, it was a bottle that was almost empty and had sediment that had built up at bottom of bottle. He didn 't seem to show that he cared that they had just given us this; you don 't serve that to customers. He brings the new sake (still didn 't taste very good) and brings our meals. The meals chicken teriyaki, and sashimi with tempura tasted bland and the sashimi pieces were cut sloppily and looked too big. With all of this we still had to flag down our waiter again (they are all so busy chatting) just to pay the bill. Expecting some form of reconciliation for all this, I get the bill and see everything has been charged even the sake despite him admitting giving us bad stuff (that would have likely made us sick if we drank it). I rarely write reviews and really it has to be significant for me to leave a bad review....but people should know this. Very overpriced restaurant for bland average food. Won 't ever be back here to eat. Go to Sushi House on San Mateo Ave in San Bruno for a far better experience and good quality food (and sake)."

"This is my new favorite sushi spot! Service was a little slow, but the food and the drinks were outstanding! I have never been a fan of raw sushi due to it tasting too fishy, however I tried it at Fugu and it was IMPECCABLE! I had the toro and salmon nigiri, and it wasn’t fishy at all. "The server was knowledgeable and always had a smile on her face. We ordered shrimp and tempura dinner that came with rice, salad and Miso soup. It was too oily for me, but the cripple was great and quite a lot of vegetables. Chicken catsu was brilliant and also came with salad and soup. Much of it. We ordered spicy tuna reel (my little favorite), King Kong watch had a good crunch and favorite was Pei's, which had meerrot Hischi and a perfect blend of sweetness from the mango and heat from the Jalapeno. Yum!"
