"The food was delicious. There were only a few downfalls were that even with a reservation for they didn’t have a regular table ready for us, so they sat us at a round table that seats This was a bit uncomfortable because we were on a date, but we made due. Our server was wonderful and friendly to start, but she disappeared on us. I am not sure if she got off because the restaurant was closing or fell ill, but she never returned. Another serve apparently took over her table, but this is a guess, because there was no introduction. We also did not get notified of last call for the bar. We wanted a second round of drinks. When I asked the secondonly server I saw if the bar was closed he said yes. I guess the disappointed look on my face made him ask what we wanted and he decided to try to get our second round and was successful, which I appreciated. This however made me not even want to ask about getting dessert to go, which unfortunately was one of the reasons I chose the restaurant. I do wish that we had received better communication about the restaurant closing because we were enjoying the food and conversation instead of paying attention to the time. Overall enjoyed the restaurant. We ate: The mini crab cakes, The calamari, The truffle steak fries, The shrimp grits, The NY StripWe drank: The Passion fruit mule but they were out of passion fruit so we asked it to be substituted with pineapple juice and it was delicious"

"We had a delicious dinner with friends sharing a number of plates. We went there on a Sunday night and were surprised at how few customers were in the restaurant. I don't know if this is a #MeToo reaction to Mike Isabella, but I really hope that they don't close. We have so few really good restaurants in PG County."

"It was quite empty on a Tuesday at 6pm. Nice attentive waiter, very good drinks (Manhattans) and a tasty meal of ravioli. Bread was just ok, served weirdly in a white paper bag. Didn't have room for dinner but we'll go back another time."

"I've seen this several times walking by and finally decided to try it. Made a reservation via Open Table same night which was great. Arrived about 25 minutes early and we were sat right away. The hostess was very friendly as well as the waitstaff. Order two glasses of white wine and I didn't take the name down. For meals, we shared the French Onion soup. Now you must love cheese...because it had the most cheese, I've ever seen on top of French Onion soup! I did like that there was enough cheese to have some in every bite..so no complaints here. Escargot was next up and tasty....the bread dipped nicely into the leftover butter sauce. The didn't have the pork tenderloin as stated on the menu, substituting with pork chops. I can't recall the last time I've had a great pork chop, it was delicious! And the sauce could have been more it was soooo good. Lamb shank was the second entree and didn't disappoint with the polenta on the side. Gravy/sauce was to die for. No dessert on this round...but I will keep in mind an try other items on their menu."

"We attended CG?s for a Private Family Party. Servers were all enthusiastic and exhibited concern for accommodating any needs expressed by party-goers. Food took awhile to get out despite the pre-fixe menu, but everything was plated well and delicious. CG?s always delivers when it comes to consistently delicious and familiar fare. Great date spot for new couples; there?s definitely something for everyone! No matter what your dining preferences are! : Thanks again to the Staff for making our celebration a successful and fun event!"

"It’s tough when a restaurant is so up hyped up that goers have such high expectations. We were not underwhelmed, but we weren’t overwhelmed either. It was “par“. Unfortunately the service is probably what lessened our experience – they were incredibly slow; other tables turning over, while we felt ignored toward the end. It didn’t help we were celebrating a birthday and no one was attentive to take our order. The veal and mortadella meatballs were one of the highlights. With the density you would expect them to be incredibly dry, but they were moist and had a great flavor. The chilled shrimp and mango had a solid crunch and flavor; the chili vinaigrette didn’t provide any heat you would have expected. The sea bass I love fish. I love sea bass. But this was NOT a $37 dish. It was small and rather unimaginative. What WAS worth it was Vernick’s signature dish the half chicken. Yes, you heard correctly. Chicken. I loathe ordering chicken out (I can make it at home, and quite well). Trust me, don’t miss out. The balance of flavor and crisp…it was impressive. To wrap up, the caramel brownie had great texture and flavor differences through each bite… which there are only two (small ones) of. Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll be back. It was good to try, but spending $160 on two people for a mediocre experience…We’ll see."

"service was not great, server seemed either very annoying with us or just to be generally at work. the food came out very slowly and my burger was over cooked. we dinate at various north current locations and that was not the service and the quality that I see in other shops."

"I was several times in the past in this restaurant and always had great food and service. this time the service was slow, the food was hardly warm. every place has a bad day, and I will certainly give it another chance."

"Very cool old mansion. The food was pretty good. The Wagyu burger would have been good without the bacon sauce; it overpowered the taste of the burger. I tasted the parm crusted chicken sandwich, which was pretty good. The fresh parm on the salad was delicious . The chocolate cake was ok. The room with the warm fireplace was perfect. Nice restrooms . Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5"

"I don’t normally write reviews on restaurants. This is actually my first. The reason for writing is to inform the next patrons of black diamond bistro to choose an alternative venue. This was a really bad experience from the interactions with the hostess to the moment the waiter said “i am sorry to inform you, but your meal is going to take another 15 minutes.” This was after we had been there for an hour and the whole restaurant was empty. Shockingly, the food was cold when served. It was my sons birthday and you would have thought they would have at least comp’d the dessert to make up for our experience, but they didn’t. This goes to show it is not just a fluke, bad night situation. This is an issue with culture. Sad because we were really looking forward to a great meal and great experience."

"Oh my GOD it was absolutely awful. I used a gift certificate which I had been carefully saving for a special event, and we went to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. It took a very long time for our server to come to our table, and then the food ... horrible, truly. For the amount of money spent on this meal, I could have made us a magnificent meal at home. Salmon and cous cous was tasteless, my husband's burger was nothing special, so we got out of there as soon as we could once our meal was finished. Our server was very sweet, but because of the terrible food, we'll never go back."

"A couple weeks ago I headed to Stoke for some cocktails with a few coworkers. This was the first time any of us had been and we were pleasantly surprised. We learned that the establishment places a large emphasis on being a part of the community by using local ingredients and serving products from the surrounding area. Stoke offers many of the Charlotte and North Carolina beers which placed the state on the craft brewery map. Some of the beers on tap include NoDa Brewing Company, Wooden Robot Brewery, Triple C Brewing Co. and Wicked Weed Brewing. They also have a great list of unique craft cocktails. Many of the cocktails on their menu are old classics with a twist. We learned that one of these concoctions, The Uptown Sour, intrigued a Marriott executive so much that he jumped on a plane so he could try it for himself! The desire to use local ingredients can also be seen in their food. We had a few of their appetizers (pretzel brioche, beef bone marrow, crispy oysters) which were all amazing. We could tell that this group understands the importance of top notch service when the Director of Eat Drink, Sean Potter, delivered our appetizers to our table providing us with an informative description of the ingredients and preparation techniques. The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. I loved Stoke's open kitchen design which compliments the modern yet welcoming atmosphere very well. Although the restaurant is located within the Charlotte Marriott City Center, this is definitely not your average hotel restaurant. Chef Chris Coleman is doing a fantastic job which has created national attention. Stoke was listed on USA Today's Top 20 Restaurants to Try This Fall (2016) and that's a well-deserved accolade. You should definitely add Stoke to your must try list in Charlotte."

"We were told Normandie had the best hamburger and we were not disappointed. Having never been we were surprised there was only one hamburger. We had the cheese board, equally tasty, and a Kolsch style beer which would stand up to the ones I had in Germany. Loved the seats by the window."
