"Perhaps I should know better than to visit a restaurant for the first time on restaurant week, but Maiz64 came with good references. The place was already hopping when we arrived for our 6:15 reservation, and we were asked to wait for an our table. We were seated later at a table that had been vacant since we had arrived. All in all I felt for the price I would have expected a more professional service and better more unique food. We had to ask for the restaurant week menu, we were only given the full menu, though in the end we were allowed to order from either. When the starters came it was clear why restaurant week is cheaper, because the tuna ceviche on the RW menu was half the size as the regular menu. It was also underwhelming as were the rest of our meals: rockfish with mole, hanger steak and tacos. Though the chicken got high marks. The guacamole and margaritas were also average and very pricey. Nothing special about them. I expected more given the price point and the beauty of regional Mexican cuisine. One of our friends had severe gastro issues the next day indicating the use of MSG or flavor enhancers to which she has an allergy. Our server was fine, new to the job so we were understanding, but she was not well trained. We paid the bill for the neighboring table and were nearly out the door before she caught her errors and charged us for the right meal. Theirs was cheaper than ours. Too bad for us."
