"I 'll return soon . .. I was jonesin ' for some good mexican food, but refused to eat at the usual Americanized establishments I did a driveby : to look and this place had only Latino customers my hopes were raised, and I gave it a go. I will be returning soon!<br/ <br/ I was in the mood for traditional Mexican cuisine but this place has many seafood items too. So I started with a ceviche tostada and then had a steak enchilada plate with green sauce. The ceviche was excellent, spicy and not too fishy, clearly well 'cooked ' just like I like that crunchy tostada never went limp, and the perfect avocado slice adorned the top. The table sauce was great to add more kick. The enchilada plate was enough food for 2 meals 4 full obvioulsy hand made rolls of corn goodess filled with beatifully grilled steak, covered in a rich and HOT chile verde sauce rice and beans on the side. The taste was fantastic, but the chefs special decorative touch to the top of the enchilada with lettuce, queso fresco and sour cream made it a vision too. DELIGHTFUL! I saw others eating the whole fish special stunning too. I also saw a beautiful seafood stew at an adjoining table YUM! At this point, La Escollara serves the absolute best Mexican food I have had in Indiana over the last 11 years! <br/ <br/ The staff were very nice, and I was made to feel welcome, despite my apparent German heritage. Before I left, other gringos, apparent regulars, showed up. I learned it 's right to shake hands with El Jefe behind the bar when you come in it 's called respect, I think. That 's what I 'm doin next time!"

"I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant recently, and overall, I found the ambiance to be quite pleasant. The decor was tastefully chosen and aligned well with the atmosphere they were aiming to create. We actually made a special trip from Valencia just to give it a try, as my father had expressed curiosity about it. Admittedly, it being Father's Day, the restaurant was quite busy. However, we arrived before the main dinner rush, hoping for a smoother experience.Unfortunately, there were some delays in our dining experience. It took nearly an hour for our food to arrive after we had placed our order, which was a bit unexpected. Throughout the evening, the waitress paid infrequent attention to our table, seldom checking if we desired additional drinks or anything else. Given the premium prices at this establishment, one would naturally expect a higher level of service. I can speak on this matter from a place of experience, having grown up in the restaurant industry and with my family collectively owning six different locations. Consequently, the explanations provided by the staff for such lapses in service do not appear justified, particularly when considering the multitude of negative reviews this restaurant has received. To provide a fair assessment, I must mention that the food itself was decent. However, the enchiladas seemed to have a canned taste, which was somewhat disappointing. The white rice accompanying the dish was satisfactory, but didn't particularly stand out. In conclusion, while the overall experience at the restaurant was okay, there were certainly areas for improvement, especially in terms of service. Despite my background in the industry and the unflattering reviews I've encountered, I maintain an open mind and appreciate the effort put into crafting the establishment's ambiance and decent-tasting food. Also is there valet even legal?"

"I stopped by to grab a quick bite and a drink on a Sunday night. I sat at the bar and waited to get served. It took a while to put in my order no biggie. I ordered 2 steak tacos and a margarita. The tacos were nice and big but no flavor, the margarita was ok. Chips and dip was excellent. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because when I requested for my bill I was told that that my bill was $30. I asked the gentleman why and he said I ordered 2 tacos And adrink. I was like of course I ordered that. I asked how much the tacos were he said $18 dollars. I asked him you want to tell me 2 tacos cost 18 dollars he said yes without flinching. ???? logically you'd think he'd be like that's weird. But noooo I guess common sense ain't common no more. I have eaten in many great Mexican restaurants but never have I have paid $18 for 2 mediocre tacos. I was very applaud but in my nature I did not want to argue so I asked for thereceipt to pay my bill and this is where things changed. He became very hesitant and went to call the other waiter. With my little Spanish from my understanding they messed up. I was behind the counter as I watched them scramble to fixit. A phone call was made blah blah blah ????. After 10 minutes the gentleman fixing the error comes over apologized and offered to refund my money. I am not sure if it was an honest error or whatever it was. I was disappointed with thelack of honesty. I actually love the other Los Molcajetes Bar Grill off Montecito Blvd so I expected a similar experience. Unfortunately not I will not be coming back here."
