"I’ve been going to Universal Snacks for years and years (except for during COVID). The owner was always great, very friendly and conversational.Well, recently a younger guy has been working the counter. At first, I hadn’t noticed that I was being charged extra by this person. When I did start to notice, I decided to test him. Which I did. Then one visit last week, this person wasn’t there. And I ordered the exact same food and I was charged the normal amount and received the normal order. And it was good, as usual.Today, I went to get the same order. And of course this guy charged me extra. So I asked him why and showed him the receipt from the previous week. So he tried to explain and said okay, and went to tell the lady in the kitchen something. Well, when I got home I realized what he had told the lady in the kitchen. My order was not the same as it always has been. It was clearly less then it always had been. So much so, that my wife didn’t finish it. She left half of it, because it was not the same taste. And before I could say anything, she said “let’s not go there any more.”I share this because it is a great example (to business owners) of an employee causing a longtime customer to get curious and go to your competitor."
