"When I was a little kid, I remember going to the old Westbrook Lobster when it was a fish market by the singing bridge. It was in a rickety old building that shook in the wind. There were old lobster claws on the wall that were as big as a catcher's mitt. I used to love peeking into the lobster tanks, always hoping to see a giant lobster like that. Well, that was like fifty years ago and its not like that anymore. These days Westbrook Lobster is a casual shoreline seafood restaurant. Their lobster rolls have always been the standard against which I judge other lobster rolls anywhere I go in New England. These are usually the best. I love that they offer Rhode Island clam chowder, which is a clear broth that offers the most clean clam flavor in my opinion. They have the creamy New England style too if you must have that, but as a shoreline native, I have to recommend you try the Rhode Island style. My partner loves the lobster grilled cheese sandwich. I find it too rich, but she gets it every time. Stick to the basics. Lobster rolls, clam chowder, lobster bisque, clam strips. That kind of traditional shoreline seafood is what they do best."
