"Terrific experience! It was our first time! The decor is funky inviting, it's a huge restaurant which is unusual in Montclair. Great bar with wonderful drink beer selections. They also have an outdoor bar patio. The staff is top notch. They overheard my husband wish me happy birthday and acknowledged it in a low key way witha candle in my dessert. They also were extremely knowledgeable about all menu items, and very personable. The food was delicious! Too many choices. I had the Monday special of roasted porchetta terrific! My husband had the Mac cheese with burnt bits. Don't let the name fool you, nothing about it was burnt but it was all delicious. Recommend the Juicy Lucy meatballs. We'll be back to try something else!"

"We went there for Sun brunch. Food was varied and pretty good. Service was very good. However, $50 for a buffet? Who can eat anything near that much? Drinks also weren’t cheap by a long shot. We enjoyed it but went there because we had a gift card. Won’t be going back at those prices!"

"Love Cabernet! My wife and I live in Alpharetta and dine at Cabernet several times a year. Jason and his staff are incredible and we get a great meal and service, every time! A few weeks ago I brought my out of town family there for a graduation celebration. My brother in law went to culinary school and he has worked in some incredible kitchens (Commanders Palace in New Orleans tops the list). Needless to say he has a sophisticated palate and can be very critical of restaurants when we dine out. After our meal at Cabernet he raved about the amazing service and food! Top shelf steakhouse!"

"Al’s is what other fine dining and steak houses try to be I saw a post earlier this year on the Lost Tables Facebook group. I had only been to Al’s once (in 2010) and was surprised that it was still open… and although I forgot the guy I went to Al’s with in 2010, I remembered the decadent atmosphere, excellent service, delicious steak and slow meal. Al’s symbolizes everything that I want in my 40th decade: authenticness, a better socioeconomic situation, and understated originality. I called two weeks ahead and made reservations for my birthday feast. My experience couldn’t have been better. The hostess was exceptional and kind to my group of 8 very ethnically and socioeconomically diverse friends, at least 2 whom have never experienced fine dining. Everyone felt welcomed and comfortable (I had told them to dress up, so everyone was dressed appropriately for a place like this). We split a few appetizers across the table. Delicious and everyone was able to have about 2-3 pieces of everything. The main courses were presented from a rolling cart and this was one of the most remarkably awesome parts of our meal. What place truly does not have a printed menu? The presentation was mouthwatering and made you want to eat everything on the menu. Al’s house salad came with all the entrees, and it was perfect. There as a sorbet aperitif between the salad course and entrees, which completely amused my friends. I ordered the 8 ounce filet mignon, and was reminded of why I remembered the food but not the guy from 2010. It practically melted in my mouth and I could have cut it with a butter knife. It did not need sauce of any kind. My side was the Al's potatoes, which I probably wouldn't order again only because I had it confused with another style of potatoes (they were delicious for what they were). Other friends ordered the salmon, pasta, and stuffed filet and the sides are big enough to share. I was told the salmon was moist but cooked and seasoned to perfection. The portions were large enough that almost everyone had to-go boxes. For dessert everyone ordered something different and nobody shared. I was told it was all delicious! Perfectly portioned and the perfect ending (and regrettably meals like this must end). The only thing incongruent about our experience at Al’s was the weird playlist. It went from country to show tunes to 80s soft rock… it was very confusing and the one detail that was overlooked. I think that others have previously remarked about this. It was pretty odd and would have set a better mood if they had played soft instrumental holiday music, classical, jazz, or even 1920s-1940s pop songs. Most important, the volume of the music was spot on, and acoustics and table spacing in the room were so that we could all hear each other and not overhear other guests at other tables. Serving and waitstaff was perfect: there when you needed them and not intruding when you didn’t. From appetizer to dessert, our meal ended up taking about 3 hours. For all 9 of us, all very light drinkers, with maybe 1/2 an appetizer portion each, it ended up being just less than 1000 including a very generous tip to our gracious waitress. I would budget at least 100 per person including tip, but 200 per person would be more comfortable. Along with my wonderful friends, Al’s helped me have the best 40th birthday party that I could have imagined. It is the most memorable fine dining experience, perfect place to spoil my friends who have never previously experienced “fine dining”, and perfect for special occasions. I only hope that they’re around another 96 years and that I have the chance to return sooner than 9 years from now (and I will *definitely* remember all the friends I spent this occasion with)! The architecture and decor of this historic Detroit Mansion is really a sight to see Stone Staircases, stained glass Windows, Elaborate Moulding and accents. The food was amazing ALL, her famous beef Wellington was tender and paired wonderful. The seafood seed was delicious. "peska has a big change in her menu and kitchen, not sure that it is for the better. entries on the menu are much overprice for what's getting. the latin inspired menu leaves much to wish. Maybe it's the places that dictate the menu prices, but it's not a good value or worthy what's served. my fish dish had bland aromen and was 't enough to get a drink, it would have made a nice appetizer if it had a taste. not impressed! the hangers steak my wife was very hard and cut into small pieces to make the flesh less hard. After we said that, we will not return. if they have a desire to visit peska, I suggest they make it fast as they probably won't be long. the bar, however, seems to be a place for “Trend-Chaser” so that it could carry one."

"My girlfriend and I came here on Labor Day at 8:15 and they were closing at 9pm. We had an amazing experience with some live music. (I wish I knew his name) We started with the steak and cheese spring rolls that were on point! My girlfriend got the French onion soup that was one of the best we've ever had. We split the buffalo mac n cheese and BBQ chicken Flatbread. The mac was out of this world so creamy, so cheesy, and the portion was humongous! I was unable to taste the Flatbread due to no more room in my stomach for it. There's always next time. The crew were complete all-stars from start to finish. Never once tried rushing us through our meals and made sure we had everything we needed. Rodney specifically, is an amazing bartander, if you're lucky enough you'll have him. Oh, he also ran to the parking lot and brought me my (favorite) hat to me that I left on the bar hook under the bar. Go to The Homestead of you're looking for a good night out and amazing food! -Enjoy/Be safe"

"beautiful decoration and historical pictures. there were two vegan options when I left. penne primavera and cauliflower rice. I chose the rice that was good, but only a little oily and salty for my taste. the pasta could have been better. there seems to be some vegetarian options that could be made vegan like the veggie sandwich and they can get a burger with a veggie patty. they need to make sure that tp ask to take off dressing and cheese. gardein was an option to supplement the entree or salate."

"We made reservations for a time they had on the open table. When we got there a party was just leaving. They said we could wait at the bar while they reset the upstairs dining room. Half an hour later we were still at the bar. We noticed other couples were being brought up to sit in the dining room. It was as though they forgot about us. When we questioned them we were told they had reservations . We said we had reservations for half an hour ago. Finally we were seated with apologies"

"Ideal place to spend a romantic day or even two, or... week?. This place is wonderful. Amazing ocean view!! Sunsets are outstanding!! Every evening is unique here. Staffers are super respectful and courteous. It is extremely difficult to find any disadvantages , but I?ve managed to do it you simply stick to that place and loose time perception, that what happened to me. Time stops here, even vanish. There is no more to criticize. Highly recommend that place as a vacation hub or a retreat. It is worth every dollar spent here. ????"
