"We ordered Rum Runners during Happy Hour from a friendly server and inquired about the crabs. Unfortunately, I was one week early for Stone Crabs, but they had Jonah crabs instead. Not wanting to order a full platter, the server suggested the raw bar, which had happy hour prices at that time. I decided to try some Jonah crab claws and shrimp, and the guy at the bar was so nice that he even gave me a free sample of shrimp. The crab was delicious, and we even shared some with Boots. The shrimp was also excellent, so I went back for more and was given an oyster for Boots as well, as it turns out they are his favorite.
There was live island style music playing on a stage next to the raw bar, providing a refreshing change from the usual background music found in restaurants. In addition to the raw bar, my husband ordered half an onion ring loaf, which was tasty. I opted for the She Crab Bisque, which was absolutely delicious, though a bit pricey.
With about 8 crab claws, 6 shrimp, 2 drinks, one bisque, and one onion ring loaf, we were completely stuffed. The bill came to about $50 before tax and tip, making it not a budget-friendly meal, but worth it for the pleasant atmosphere next to the marina, good service, resident cat, and great seafood. Overall, it was a terrific dining experience at Monty’s Seafood."
