"What a great place for Japanese food, the service was great and the food just right. It’s got plenty of seating for a small building, but no outdoor seat is available. There is a small bar inside and seats so you can watch the food being prepared. The location does have booths, tables and a traditional table where you must take your shoes off and sit in the floor. "dirty environment! we had a nice lunch after we were over to be turned off from the very dirty environment. the leather/vinyl bench seated looked so dirty that it was pretty spicy. it is difficult for a restaurant to get good reviews when the environment was so unclean and unkempt I wanted to tell a manager, but no one came over; so I wrote in the restaurant and not yet heard. we met there before a movie so it was difficult to change our plans; but the restaurant must really get a better management with better health and cleanliness."

"My husband and I decided to try this restaurant after having a few drinks with friends in the neighborhood. We ordered the tomato ramen, which was one of three vegan ramen options on the menu. It was packed with vegetables, including delicious fresh tomatoes, and the matcha noodles were a unique and flavorful touch that I enjoyed. The restaurant is open until 2:00 and has a nice terrace. "Seared tuna rolls tasted store bought and bites were not sizable exactly. Chickens did not look like chickens that were crushed into too much sauce, salmon was a strange quadrature that was also crushed in the way to buy lots of sauce, rice over boiled, Californian rolls tasty business, and the egg rolls tasted like frozen F foods. We didn't do anything on our plates. Services never see if everything tastes good. Overall bad experience."

"Have been here many times and it is decent for the price, not amazing not terrible but no real issues. Tried to place an order to go today, their online orders stop at 10 though they are open until 10:30 and I missed the window as I was placing my order so I just went in to place the order instead. Hours on the door state open until 10:30, walked in at 10:13 and they refused service stating that last call is 10:15. It will take me a while to come back, honor your hours or change the time on the door"

"I first discovered this restaurant through Yelp! I had originally called a popular local sushi place, but the wait was two hours. I searched for nearby sushi options and found Sushi Ran. When I called, Monica answered and immediately reserved a table for us. Since then, both Monica and Victoria have been fantastic hosts. I will definitely return because of their excellent service and the delicious fresh fish they serve. Don't hesitate to try it out - this is now my go-to sushi spot!"

"After seeing this place open some time ago I finally got a chance to go. What a wonderful treat. We were there for Oakland Restaurant Week. We had a great treat at the start with a bite size piece of watermelon soaked in some spices it was really delicious. We then moved on to a beef dish Bo La Lot it was Angus Beef rolled up and cooked with spices, Fermented Anchovy sauce wrapped in betel leaves. Just great. Next was a Garlic Noodle dish with barbecued shrimp. It was fantastic. We had a pretty good creme brulee but saw the other desert go by to another table and immediately regretted our decision. The desert we didn't order was a melange of ice cream, fruit, and chocolate sauce. It looked really good. I would recommend this place without hesitation. My only complaint was the music. There were times when for 10 minutes all you heard was a deep bass rumbling over and over again. It became monotonous and sort of annoying. I am not sure what it adds to the experience? Enjoy!"

"Why has basic customer service died at so many restaurants in the city?! I sat down and was given a menu, and I was the only customer there. My server was setting tables and I had to wave her over after so time, to take my order. I wanted water, and was pointed to where I could get it myself, so I kept getting up to get some. My portions were small and pricey, and my appetizer(miso soup) was served last. When my sashimi was served it was just put in front of me, and they walked away without telling me what each one was. I wanted lemon, and some spicy flakes with this, but noone ever came back or was around, or ever asked me how everything was. I was, and am still hungry, but I just wanted to leave. I had to get someone's attention for my bill. They also changed a $1.35 convenience fee for a credit card- which I've never seen at any restaurant, and my bill was $42. I always leave at least 20% when I eat out, but I'm not going to here, I left about 15% which was still too much. I guess this place is doing so great, they don't have to care if anyone comes in, as countless restaurants around them are closing down. Best of luck to them, but I won't be back."

"Absolutely terrible, inedible lunch. Everything was so sugary and salty. Is this what people like? The tonkaten soup was just ok. The seaweed salad over the top sweet. The Dynamite roll did not resemble and Dynamite roll, was oily, sweet and just plain gross. My husband and I wasted $50 and threw most of it in the disposal. Yuck. Where is really excellent Japanese food where they don't have to mask bad cooking with tons of sugar and salt?"
