Grilled shishito peppers served with a sprinkle of sea salt and a squeeze of lemon for a flavorful, mild heat appetizer.

"This is the real deal the only top notch sushi in the Palm Springs area. I stumbled in by happenstance on a Wednesday night without a reservation and since I was dining alone I snagged the only individual seat at the bar. It's popular with locals and the way I noticed it was driving by at 5:00 there was a line of older people waiting to get in right when they opened the doors. Good sign. Service was a bit dictatorial probably because it was so busy and they had to keep things moving but the host (maybe wife and owner) was nice even though she was firm. She just had a ton of patrons to manage. I saw 5 10 parties get turned away since no resy for the short time I waited for my spot to clear. Sushi bar it took a while to eat since they were so busy. Chefs had their hands full. Also full menu is not available at the sushi bar. On to the sushi excellent fish. Right up there with best I've had at some of the high end sushi restaurants on either coast all in an unassuming old school atmosphere. Nothing fancy but yellowtail, tuna, aji, ikura, uni, mackerel, sweet shrimp were all wonderful. The uni was very special. I also loved my negihama roll. Oh expect to pay handsomely for what you get. Take out pork tonkatsu was good also especially after crisping it up in a toaster oven. Had a delicious hot mustard along with the sweet sauce. Don't go here if you're looking for a Philly cheese roll. There's another restaurant somewhere else for that kind of sushi. Go here for great nigiri and the old standbys."

"very small portions for what they pay. we ordered the special $50 schatzbox of the chef and it was in the round 10 very thin strips of fish. it was super bland. nigiris are also only 1 piece for the price. Usually nitriris 2 pieces are in other sushi restaurants. with the tip, our bill was $200. I starved and ordered to order food to go somewhere on the way to home."

"For Live Reviews, visit my YouTube Page 'Doctored Reviews ' ! Great sushi! Ordered takeout not too long ago and had a mix of both speciality rolls and regular rolls. Big fan of the rolls with eel, as they were fresh and tasty. Pros Regular rolls are very good and you can get a fairly priced meal by adding many regular rolls and sharing. Sushi tastes fresh, even for take out. Cant imagine what it would be like in person! Cons Specialty rolls are good, but not out of this world. Sauces are just generic with sweet teriyaki, and dont have any speciality sauces matching the dishes."

"FOOD 10/10 ?? everything was amazing , However I can see why they?re rated so low . . Probably the WORST customer service I?ve experienced in a while , we waited about 15 minutes before I had to go FIND our server , after our order was taken and foodcame out we were never checked On for drink refills , except when we asked for our checks . I will return for the food , butthe service needs ALOT of work . . The food is the only reason they even got 3 starts service would have been a 1 ."

"I came in to speak to the manager to offer my exclusive service to help the restaurant bring in business. As I'm talking to the manager, we have an employee and a cook staring hard and listening to the conversation as if they were in the conversation (i felt uncomfortable). I asked if they would like to join and then I was given an attitude when all i was trying to do was offer my service and help bring in business FOR FREE! It's okay though. No respect was given at this place.I don't recommend coming here, there's other great places on Brand!"

"Hinoki is really incredible. There are many reviews about how excellent their sushi is, so I would like to call the eggplant out. Hinoki reinvented it. From texture to moisture to Umami flavor to presentation it is excellent. And this is Hinoki for you. The shell is analogous. Their preparation, creativity and refined understanding are present in everything they do. Your hospitality staff is attentive and passionate. It's just a pleasure to go and that's why it's the premiere restaurant on the avenue."

"NEGATIVE 100 STARS. Im vegetarian, 7/21/23 I ate here and order a G-Mac with NO BACON, luckily I wasn’t very hungry so I only ate a small portion. Today I went to eat the leftovers to find little pieces of BACON in my sandwich. I am so upset, this is very disappointing. The lack of consideration and respect for dietary needs/choices anywhere especially a business serving food. What if someone had an severe allergy to something and you neglected to accommodate for that? That is not safe.Vegetarian options: They do not respect requests for vegetarian options, there was meat in my food.Dietary restrictions: They disregard requests for this."

"The scallops were fantastic and the salmon we ordered was cooked perfectly. We sat outside, which was very comfortable, and the waiter was very attentive."

"Cons: Eating was expensive and I feel that I didn't get quality that tasted ramen broth, smells like dirty water, it was really bad, they should stop selling ramen and focus on sushi, talking about sushi, not have taste especially the tuna. Didn't feel fresh and I'm really disappointed. Pros: The only thing I liked about the restaurant is that looks really clean, bathroom are surprisingly clean, service is super fast, waiter was such a wonderful server. And the staff is friendly conclusion: Unfortunately I am not back, there are many restaurants in the area. I spent the same money that my usual fantasy-ray spot (Afuri), I'm sorry guys for the bad review, but you have such a wonderful place, but don't eat it so well."

"This small neighborhood gem was perfect for lunch. I made 12:00 p.m. Sunday OpenTable lunch reservations for 2. To note: leave extra time to find parking on the street, very busy. When we arrived we were greeted and seated. The restaurant is small but bright and nicely decorated. Service was excellent very friendly and attentive. The reason why I chose this restaurant is for the sushi and the KushiYaki. My friend and I ordered beers while deciding on what to order. We chose the Pork Belly, Beef, Tiger Shrimp, Chicken liver and Gizzard Kushiyaki. In addition the Scallop Uni Carpaccio, Rock Shrimp Spicy Tuna Maki and a Spicy Tuna Roll along with Masago, Eel and Salmon Sushi. Everything came out fresh and delicious. All the KushiYaki choices were cooked perfectly. The Scallop Uni Carpaccio stole the show. Atmosphere: small, bright, nice decor. Service: excellent. Food: excellent."

"I chose this place because I saw that a lot of reviews mentioning fresh fish but I am gravely disappointed : ... We got the Goyen Sashimi B combo and none of the fish was fresh except for the escolar. For how much it all cost, the quality was sadly not worth it at all. The sashimi tasted grainy with an unpleasant after taste. Service was good and fast. Ambience is like a typical sushi bar with dim lighting and dark interior.Overall, we were not satisfied because of the quality of the food so we won't be back."

"found that this food is too expensive for quality. we went by and it was the aroma good, so we decided to cook the garnels, fried garnelen and crab friries to try. fried garnelen was not good. Crab-Fries went untouched for $15 was a disappointment. Tarter sauce wasn't good. the cook was a little better, but I'll never eat here again. west fair fish n chips in westport is the best seafood in the opposite."

"I sat at the bar. The bartender/server, Carlos, was attentive and friendly. I told his manager that he was awesome. The food was just okay, the beef skewers were room temperature, not hot. The tempura a little on the greasy side. Not terrible, but not great either."
