"Expectations weren’t nearly what I assumed one of the most well-regarded Italian restaurants in the city would be. Service was good and the food came out promptly…but flavor wise, I was pretty let-down.Tried the fig flatbread, which had the makings to be great, but the honey drizzled on top was so sweet and overpowering, that you couldn’t really taste anything but sweet/candy. Dish needed salt/acidic bite to really balance the savory aspect. For entrees, we both tried the eggplant parmigiana after great reviews. The spaghetti pesto side was decent. The eggplant parmigiana again, was incredibly overpowered by a syrupy-sweet balsamic drizzle on top, and the tomato sauce was also pretty sugary. I just felt like the entire meal was a mash of sweet, when a good parmigiana dish should have tang and acid to break through the fried and fatty flavors of the breading and pasta. I wanted to add salt, but I shouldn’t be needing to salt my foot at one or Columbus’ highest esteemed restaurants lol.I guess I should have looked at the menu better before, but there were so many weird sweet corn, leek, raisins, capers, onion cream sauce(?? etc. in so many Italian dishes that I would have never expected to be there. Again, on me for expecting a more traditional and not such a creative/American twist. Not going to rate under 4-stars however, because the atmosphere and service was good, and the ingredients were at least very fresh. It’s not bad food, I just…expected better flavors."
