"Very disappointing !! Never again. I called a few days in advance to ask if they had tables inside with tablecloths (we didn't want a take-out place) and they said yes and when we arrived there, they did NOT have table cloths in fact. We were a party of and the waiter had a lot of trouble understanding our order. We had to repeat things multiple times AND the waiter could not answer our simple questions. When we were ordering appetizers, one guest in our party asked for spring rolls as an appetizer and instead of telling us they understood this meant two of the same appetizer for one person, they brought over two FULL orders which consisted of spring rolls EACH for one person, in addition to the other appetizers! They would not take the second order served in error back OR credit our bill. The food was mediocre and was not served hot. It was lukewarm when served. There was no beef on the menu ?? For a bill for just four people it was a complete rip-off. We each only had one drink each. No hot tea on the tables. Place wasn’t exactly that clean either. Never again !!"

"Truly fine food served in a very professional manner at an historic setting. A walk through the grounds and seeing the historical pictures are a must. When we entered the Garden Patio there was a smoke from a decorative fire that was taken care of when we commented as we were seated. The food served was perfectly created and each of four different requests were thoroughly enjoyed."

"We had a reservation for and we were seated immediately but apparently they didn’t want us to sit there so they asked us to move..... no biggie but they placed us behind the chef. Not cool! So we moved to the other side of the dining room and the waiter who looked like he came off a rough night told us he was really busy and that he would be back when he could. We took all the signs and just left and went to Japanese Kitchen. Which was an AMAZING experience. I hope this experience was just a little mishap and that it’s not a sign that this place is being run poorly. Usually pretty fun ."

"I 've been to Carter 's Landing a number of times since it opened. At the beginning, the service was fantastic with the staff being very energetic and going out of their way to make the experience wonderful. The menu was extensive and creative and the food was served hot and delicious. I went last Fall around Thanksgiving and was not at all impressed with the service. The place was very quiet with few diners. Rather than seat the guests in one of the dining areas the staff had us seated all over. With a small staff they couldn 't look after the guests properly. Service was extremely slow, food was delivered cold and was all around a very poor dining experience. I said I wouldn 't go back. Well, I was looking for a place for brunch and saw this available so decided to try it again. There was no mention of a buffet only and the website only showed a brunch menu. As my last visit, the service was horrible. We ordered coffee to begin and when it was brought about 5 or more minutes later, the server didn 't bring milk and cream, even after asking if we wanted those when we ordered the coffees. Then, a few minutes later she only brought 2 milks and 2 creamers. It was the same for our refills! The buffet at $22 a person was sparse. The 'kid ' making the omelets, crepes and waffles seemed well out of his element. Omelets were stuck to the pan, over cooked and only one at a time. Not much better on the crepes. The rest of the buffet, which consisted of 3 trays of hot items and a small table of cheese, fruit and deserts was not enough. Hot items were cold and uninspiring. It 's sad that Carter 's Landing seems to be so mismanaged because the location is absolutely perfect and begging for a place like this should be, but the bad management, poor service and lack of food quality is going to spell the end of this place which should be absolutely thriving! It 's sad actually!"

"My family and I are frequent to Yougu. This time however, we went for a birthday party and we were very disappointed with the service. My kids' drinks came out late and watered down. Our sushi came out right before we were about to leave as we were packing up our habachi. We ordered our sushi 1st thing, by the way. Our waiter had a very hard time understanding the orders, food allergies and the fact that I was there with my jamaican family while an Caucasian family, that we made new friends with, was there as well and we explained how I'm paying for my family and they will pay for their family. Bill still came out with all on one bill versus two bills. Very unsatisfied. To make things worse, I decreased the standard 18% tip, and they still charged me more than what I wrote. You bet I called."

"We were there celebrating two birthdays. Our server Faith was wonderful. She was attentive without being intrusive and knowledgeable about the menu. We were a table of 6 and ordered quite a bit of food, some of which was great and others lackluster. The bao buns were great and the small calamari salad was huge and those who had it said delicious. The spareribs were good as well as the edamame dumplings, although the way those were served made it hard to fully enjoy. Each dumpling should be on a individual type spoon so you can enjoy the soup part as well as the dumpling. The way they were served in one large bowl with only one spoon made it so the soup part is left at the bottom. I did request extra spoons from the expediter but they never came. The worst part of our appetizer course was somehow an item was switched to another in the computer and served to us. It had shellfish in it and that wasn’t known when someone at our table who doesn’t eat shellfish ate it. The sashimi was good but the tuna tartare thing was really bad. The entrees we had were the duck, which I was told was delicious, the miso cod, which was fishy, the whole fish which was tasteless, the lobster fried rice, which was okay but lacking flavor. The best dish was the black pepper beef, it was delicious and elegantly served. We had all the sides and all were quite good especially the eggplant and the wasabi mashed potatoes. It was a nice evening but it felt a little stale for a Starr restaurant."

"Excellent, authentic food and drinks! I've been here many times and the food, drinks and service have always been consistently amazing! I have similar food at other places but this place tops my list. The seasoning is on point for everything. The portions are large. Love the tortilla soup and tamales (I'm picky about tamales and this hits the spot) the most but their fajitas are also great to share with a friend. I LOVE their drinks! Mango mojitos (several flavors to choose from), margaritas in several sizes and flavors, frozen drinks, draft and bottled beers and wines. The happy hour is Monday through Friday from 3:00 6:00 PM. They also offer catering and online ordering for individual and group orders or for catering. This is a solid go to for office and private party catering! They have three locations, and I've been to all of them. That's how much I love their food and drinks, I'm never disappointed. There's also karaoke at their Alexandria Old Town location every Friday and Saturday from 10:00 PM 2:00 AM. It's so fun! If you haven't tried this place, I encourage you to try it. It's great for groups and families. It's always happy and friendly."

"Four of us went to dinner at this restaurant. Three of our meals were enjoyable, but one of them was not good. We informed our waitress, and the management discounted 50% off the unsatisfactory meal. Overall, we enjoy dining at this restaurant, but the live music was too loud for our liking. "Went for my wife's birthday and noticed that in the on-line reservation the host realized that at greeting, then Waiter/Bartender recognized it at the beginning of dinner and then at the end with dessert excellent customer service. Food was excellent, as usual sushi, curry, kimchi fried rice all done well, although with a little more spice preferred; the difference maker is Chris the bartender extraordinary server, reminds us every time, not there in a few months and he still knew my drink of choice and woman preference. I've been in the U.S. restaurant business for 30 years and during such a turbulent time when recruiting is a challenge and retention is supreme hope that you take care of him, he is a keeper and brings your guests back!"
