"American Cheese is a restaurant that, compared to its competitors, is on the pricier side. The decor and atmosphere are cute, and the service is friendly. However, the restaurant has a small wine list and limited food options. My first visit to American Cheese was average, and I wasn't overly impressed. I had been hoping to love it as much as another cheese store in Port Jeff, but unfortunately, it fell short in several areas. The location near the Sayville train station may pose challenges for parking, with the lot often full. While the shop had many customers purchasing cheese, there were few people dining inside, making for a somewhat awkward atmosphere. The space is small, with only a few tables and an outdoor patio that could use some landscaping. The prices were high, and the menu for cooked foods was quite limited. The cheese plates were disappointing, with small portions for the price. The wine list was also lacking in options. The service, while friendly, seemed a bit disorganized. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, things felt chaotic. The food was average, and the cheeses I tried were underwhelming. Overall, I wanted to love American Cheese, but it failed to meet expectations."
