"American Cheese is a restaurant that, compared to its competitors, is on the pricier side. The decor and atmosphere are cute, and the service is friendly. However, the restaurant has a small wine list and limited food options. My first visit to American Cheese was average, and I wasn't overly impressed. Probably my favorite place to enjoy some nice cheeses and wines, this airy, relaxed cheese shop and eaterie in Sayville is really worth a trip. Their selection of cheeses is fantastic, and they have some nice charcuterie (the Olli wild boar salami slices are amazing, they call it meat candy for good reason). if you wish to sit down, there 's great cheese-oriented sandwiches, beautifully served cheese plates, and a small but excellent selection of wine by the glass.

Knocking out Christmas shopping early (don 't hate). Stopped in for much needed refueling. And by refueling , I mean beer (and grub). Decent selection of craft: Sweetwater IPA, Moustache, Great South Bay with 2 offerings, Greenport 's Black Duck Porter and Crooked Ladder. Had the pork tenderloin and ham panini. Salty and satisfying, it 's a panini done right. Other places tend to overly toast and squash the poor sandwich so it 's this flattened, dry and crunchy mess. NOT HERE! I have been to similar places before and this one stands out with its perfect balance of portion size and delicious flavors. In the past, I have been to places that offer Costco-sized samples (like Patchogue's Cheese Patch) that left me still hungry and with a hurting wallet.
