"I distinctly remember having dined in this space before as it offered Korean bento boxes in a previous incarnation. The Oakland themed murals on the walls, in fact, looked really, really familiar, as if they were left over from the previous tenant. These days, this venue is called Los Kinjas and is apparently a new incarnation of a similarly named sushi shop that used to be directly across the street. Here, there's tons to choose from on the menu, whether nigiri, sashimi, sushi rolls galore, ramen, donburi, or even hot items like teriyaki, tonkatsu, and sesame chicken. So much to choose from, in fact, that I had a serious case of FOMO. So I opted for the Three Kinjas combo, which allowed me to sample three offerings, whether the nigiri (reasonably fresh and tasty), salmon sashimi (nice, melt in your mouth texture), or sushi roll (the unakyu roll, if I remember correctly). Not cheap at $31 this is sushi, after all and not necessarily the most filling meal if you're roaringly hungry because you haven't had much to eat all day, so I added a rainbow roll too. Nevertheless, a solid option to have in the neighborhood. Not necessarily one that I would make a special trip from afar, though. Still, after having moved out of Oakland before California reopened in mid 2021, it was also good to see in person dining resuming again, plus it was also reassuring to see that they were doing vaccination checks."
