"This is a little low score than it probably deserves, but I think it is reflecting for the experience. We had a reservation and sat right away. The service was fast and very friendly. And the food was also very good. The reason for the low score is the back of the house seems to have problems. It took about 2 hours to get Entrees. We started with drinks and appetizers, but it was over an hour from the time we ordered our entrees until the food arrived. Our server and the manager have done everything they could do, but you can't cover any problems in the back. The other thing I would say is that prices are a bit high for what it is and compared to other similar restaurants nearby. Where most of the restaurants would have the most Entrees is the $30s with seafood and steaks pushing into the $40s. I would say most of the things here are in the $40s with seafood and steaks in the $50s. Add some wine and appetizers and you are looking for $200 / pair. It is not astronomical compared to peers, but it is higher. So, my recommendation is that if you have a lot of time, check it out. All dishes on our table had great taste and were usually well prepared (one person had underboiled Risotto). And the front of the house personnel was great and the management seemed engaged and attentive. But it will be a whole night dinner unless they make a few changes to the house again."

"I have been a huge fan of hip city veg for going on near 10 years now, I’ve put my family and friends on to their food and they are big fans now too! I think most of their food is solid, but I like most, I have my faves. They’ve recently changed their menu and I was nervous but figured I would try the new items. I was not expecting for so much to be removed from the menu, I HATE when restaurants get rid of items. Usually they are not replaced with anything that can live up to the legacy. Not wanting to be a stick in the mud, I gave the new items a chance and was put off. The mushroom blooms were incredibly greasy and lacked any real flavor. The bottom of my bag literally looked like I dropped a bottle of water on to it. I actually got scared that I had somehow spilled juice inside of it. Still, I tried some and couldn’t even finish them. Texture was bad and it was just a mouth full of of grease. I paid money to pitch them right in the trash. Green goddess dressing was meh, nothing could mask the awful taste of the mushrooms.Unfortunately, they no longer have their taco salad or their Caesar salad. Tbh I don’t think I will head to hip city nearly as often as I did before unless I happen to want some lemonade or a milk shake. If I want something fresh and plant based I will head anywhere else.Vegetarian options: It’s a vegan restaurantDietary restrictions: Gluten free options and everything is dairy free"

"We had a reservation and arrived about minutes early. We decided to try to sit outside since the weather was nice. The hostess offered us a table right next to the stand, and we asked if we could get a table out on the patio to overlook the water. They said yes and it would be a minute wait which we didn’t mind. We decided to go up to the bar to get some drinks as we wait. The bartenders didn’t even acknowledge us or ask what we would like until I asked about minutes later if we could order some drinks. Mind you I know bartenders can be busy with other orders but I’m not sure where the disconnect was on even acknowledging new customers and saying I’ll be with you shortly. We finally get called for our table and the hostess tried to seat us RIGHT NEXT TO THE STAND AGAIN. We told them that we waited minutes for a table on the patio and there are about tables open on the patio that we saw while we got our drinks. Thankfully she did seat us at one of the open tables. The next kicker still has me laughing. My husband decides to order the tuna tacos. Our waiter comes back and tells us that the “chef is not taking any tuna orders for hours.”...... Hm. We asked if they ran out and the waiter says no, the chef just decided to stop taking the orders. There is no way that they are receiving a shipment of tuna on Saturday night at at this point. It was total B.S. that a decision like that was made for no explanation since they did not run out.The only thing we enjoyed about coming here was enjoying our drinks when we finally got served and the view of the water. That’s it"
