"One night stay in Savannah so was looking for a spot for breakfast before hitting the road. I came across The Funky Brunch Cafe so decided to check it out. I got there just before 9am and it was still pretty empty. The hostess was seating the couple in front of me and saw I was alone and just said you go sit at the bar. I followed them in and asked if that was my only option. She asked what? And I asked if solos had to sit at the bar. There were only about 4 tables with people at them so it wasn't like they were hurting for tables; another lady overheard and said he can have a table. I was seated and got a polite server pretty quickly. After asking for recommendations, I settled on the Hangover. This was a bowl of hash browns with bacon, cheese, 2 eggs, topped with sausage gravy. Then you get a choice of toast or biscuit. The biscuit was very fluffy and tasted great. I was a bit confused about a strange taste in the meal however. There wasn't much if any seasoning but salt pepper were on the table so that was fine. But there was an odd aftertaste from the gravy. It was almost like an anise/licorice aftertaste so it took away from me loving the dish. I noticed some of the tables had griddles inset in them and saw a family making their own pancakes. That's a fun experience but wasn't offered as an option for me, which was ok. I'd consider going back on a future trip, but there are plenty of other choices to consider as well."
