"I searched around the metroplex for a date night spot, and chose this place after reading reviews and the menu. We drove 40 minutes to get here, and I was really excited for the food. I made a reservation, although the restaurant was dead for a Saturday night. We were seated promptly, but after 10 minutes, we still didn 't have a waiter. The hostess finally noticed and waved a waiter over. He was fine. We put in our drink order and appetizer order. He came back with drinks and some bread and took our order. 30 minutes later we still didn 't have our appetizer or food, nor did our waiter ever stop by. Meanwhile, the restaurant still isn 't that busy. We finally got a hold of him, and he apologized and said Yes, I know. Your food should be out shortly. Except we don 't want our appetizer and entree at the same time. He refused to come to the table unless we waved him over. All he could say is It 's not my fault. It 's not my fault. I 'll get you some dessert and send the manager over. Except he never did. We finally went to the bar to find the manager ourselves, told him we were leaving, and that we 'd like to pay for our drinks and go. He was very apologetic and offered for us to sit at the bar so he could personally take care of us. We declined his offer, and he waived our drink bill. I was really excited to eat here, and am pretty bummed about the lack of service, and not being able to try the food. Food might be amazing. Service was not."

"Having been here three times, Abe Fisher was a phenomenal experience each time, taking Jewish Ashkenazi food to unprecedented heights. I’m so sad they are closing. The menu during my last visit was the “Greatest Hits” menu. The service was incredible, Justin was the best waiter we ever had in Center City. We started off with the Roll Right In cocktail which was magical with the za’atar finish. Then the challah rolls came in with the spreads, each delicious. Then came the roasted sweet potatoes and the heirloom tomato caesar salad, both were very tasty. Then came the latke fries which are the best I’ve tried. Then came the veal schnitzel tacos which are some of the best tacos my gf and I have had in our lives. Finally, the short ribs arrived. What can I say? It’s perfect pastrami on another level. Unforgettable. Last came the desserts, of which my favorite was the bacon and egg cream. All in all, this spot will go down as one of the legendary places I’ve been to. The chefs behind the kitchen are truly some of the very best chefs in all of Philadelphia. Really sad they are closing. Apparently it’s due to marketing reasons as Abe Fisher’s sister restaurants Zahav and Laser Wolf are typically booked a month in advance where as Abe Fisher isn’t. The idea is to reopen Abe Fisher in a few years with the right timing so that it can be as busy as the sister restaurants. It’s all about timing really, as Abe Fisher opened too early and didn’t catch the heat from its subsequent sister restaurants. If I’m correct, then I can’t wait until the new Abe Fisher returns a few years later bringing back the Jewish Ashkenazi cuisine to the scene."
