"How beautiful to discover something so far unknown – and not so far. We are already on our way home when there is a latent hunger feeling between Ulm and Stuttgart Airport, for example at the height of Aichelberg, at the Albabstieg der A8. On the beverage market, where we are still dealing with liquids, a living local employee is pleased to provide information about the gastronomic possibilities of the area. Many are not, so the recommendation is clear. The “Deutsche Haus” in Weilheim offers a rustic ambience, a magnificent, airy outdoor terrace with a wide view (large plus point at temperatures around 30 degrees) and a versatile menu for every taste. Only the ride is adventurous. Until suddenly, in the middle of a small settlement called Kaltwanghof, a magnificent property with colorful flags appears outside the door and a huge (bus) parking space. We're not really surprised! Behind the building complex with several cultivators appears a sensational panoramic view of the dam and the Swabian Alb. At the moment you feel like in Tuscany or somewhere in the south of Andalusia. Parking, view terrace, several dining rooms, guest rooms with balcony and a pleasure shop with regional specialties (e.g. albleisa or scattered fruits from the Geiger Manufaktur) offer a very touristic feeling. Probably all bus charges will stop at noon. Shortly before 12 we get the last free table on the spacious, inviting terrace. Bingo! A well-launched, sympathetic, revitalized service lady (the Dirndl clothes follow us until here) immediately brings the extensive menu and picks up the beverage order. In view of the selection of dishes, you can really begin your heart: Fledle soup, Gaisburger march, Lumpensupp (Limburger, Roter Schwartenmagen, Saurer Presssack, Onion, Vinegar and Oil) make only the beginning of... We choose Schwäbische Wurstknöpfle in the broth with potato salad (12.50 Euro) – last enjoyed with my aunt Trudel in the last century. A peasant salad with sheep cheese (11.50 euros). After a quarter of an hour, the food is on the table. Serious portions! The powerful, fat sausage shell is saturated strong, cuts at least half a pound at the sheep cheese, the potato salad nicely sharp and mischievous and still a little lukewarm (can also lie at the outside temperature). We're gone, but we get half. Significant amounts are also served on the side tables. Amazing that the hegere ham actually creates a covered apple cake for dessert. Numerous special events attract guests from the area and far away: early temples, panoramic breakfast, evening excursions, steak evenings. When the interiors are filled to the terrace, a level deeper in the outdoor area is spontaneously covered. Here you are flexible and busy. There is also an attractive playground for the little ones. Corona security rules are all fulfilled without any problems. At our table would be 6-8 people, but we'll stay alone. Data collections are carried out carefully. In the interior arrows indicate the direction of travel. The toilets are well maintained. I want to show myself the rooms with a view of the balcony, but the way home does not take long. A discovery is already the “German house”, although with a touch tourism. But that can be grilled very well with an irony."
