A house converted into an Italian restaurant, one of the very few fancy places to eat at in Cookeville. We have been wanting to go here for a while and finally ended up going last Saturday. <br/ <br/ We were greeted by the hostess when we entered, we had a reservation at 7 and were shown to our table. We would have gotten a table without reservation too, but it was a bit crowded. Our adjacent table was too close to us, we did not mind, wonder if they did. We were told the specials by our waitress and we glanced at our menu and waited to order....

Great atmosphere and excellent service. We both had the filet and it was out of this world. They were out of lobster bisque, so I had the tomatoe bisque. It was finely pureéd with perfect seasonings. Salad and bread were thoughtful rather than an afterthought. Only sour note of the evening was the risotto my wife requested with her filet. It was terrible. Something about the way they seasoned it. It was also al dente which we don't normally associate with risotto. But it didn't affect the evening. Wonderful meal and frankly, a surprise in Cookeville. We'll return as often as we have the chance to visit Cookeville.

It has been several years since I have been to eat at Mauricio's. After working two long, hard days, I was in the mood for some really good food. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 5pm, without a reservation, but it wasn't a problem as they weren't very full yet and we got seated right away.Our waitress was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and she went through the special like a pro. She gave us time to decide what we wanted and meanwhile, we had the room to ourselves. She came back to take our order, and I got the special, Arctic Char over Risotto with Capers, and Grilled Zucchini and Squash.
