"My wife and I were in Charleston for the weekend, and though we typically enjoy seafood when we are there, we decided to try Poogan's smokehouse, since we had previously enjoyed our experience at Poogan's Porch a number of years ago. Really good barbecue. The portions are huge! We got a sangria pitcher I wasn't too fond of but that was just my personal taste.

Good Southern smoked comfort food. I had a sizable pile of pulled pork. Best cole slaw ever. My wife had a burger. She seemed to enjoy it since there was none left. The local beer was excellent.

Food was delicious. I had the brisket special with broccoli, mushroom gravy and an egg. My wife had the pulled pork. The brisket was good, but the pulled pork was some of the best either of us have ever had. It was clearly slow smoked for an extended time and full of smoky, meaty goodness. Cocktails were also good, which was a bit surprising for a barbecue restaurant.
